This week marks the start of Chǔ Shǔ (处暑), or End of Heat, the 14th solar term of the year.

Chǔ Shǔ is one of the most transitional solar terms. The summer heat finally releases its hold, mornings and evenings turn cool and the air loses moisture, which the body may respond to with qiū zào (秋燥) or “autumn dryness.”

As the season associated with the Lungs and Large Intestine, fall is the time to replenish the body’s moisture through practices that nurture our digestive and respiratory systems.
