Compliments are great. But early in dating, if EVERYTHING she says gets “That’s amazing!” and “You’re so incredible 😍,” there’s no mystery left.

You’re still deciding if SHE is right for YOU, too.

Be interested without putting her on a pedestal. Have opinions. Tease. Flirt. Let attraction build naturally instead of constantly seeking her approval.

Confidence is showing interest without needing to convince someone to choose you.

Why is wanting a younger partner only “problematic” when men do it?

Youthfulness and fitness are widely considered attractive qualities. And both men AND women can feel pretty damn good when someone younger and attractive is interested in them.

But we seem to interpret that excitement very differently depending on gender.

A woman in her 50s matches with a hot 25-year-old man? 🔥 “Get it, girl.”

A man in his 50s matches with a hot 25-year-old woman? 🚩 “Creepy. Objectifying. She’s a status symbol.”

There ARE legitimate reasons we’re more sensitive to the second scenario. Historically, older men have held more economic and social power, and women’s youth and beauty have often been treated as measures of their value.

That context matters.

But context isn’t the same thing as automatically knowing someone’s intentions.

Being attracted to youth and fitness isn’t inherently misogynistic.

The better question is: **Are you excited that this person is attracted to you, or are you using their age and body as proof of your own status while degrading people your own age?**

Because women can objectify men.

Men can objectify women.

And both can also simply be attracted to an attractive consenting adult.

Maybe the standard shouldn’t change based on gender.

Maybe we should judge the behavior.

Trying to get somebody’s number? Don’t overcomplicate it.

“Hey, it was great connecting with you. I’d love to grab a drink sometime. What’s your number?”

Or:

“I had fun talking with you. We should continue the conversation. Want to exchange numbers?”

The biggest mistake is waiting for the “perfect” moment or perfect line.

Shoot your shot. Be direct. Keep it simple.

And most importantly, celebrate your actions, not your outcomes. Getting rejected doesn’t mean you did anything wrong. Taking the chance is the win.

The goal isn’t to get her number.

The goal is to **become the kind of guy who asks.**

“Hey, I’d love to get to know you better. Can I get your number?”

That’s it.

Maybe she says yes. Maybe she says no. Maybe she gives you her number and never responds.

You can’t control any of that.

What you CAN control is whether you took the shot.

Every time you approach someone you’re interested in, make your intentions clear, and risk rejection, you’re building confidence.

So stop measuring success by whether she said yes.

If going to the gym, a social event, or even just leaving the house feels overwhelming, stop making the goal so big.

Try this brain hack instead:

Tell yourself, **“My only job is to show up.”**

You don’t have to stay for an hour. You don’t have to talk to anyone. You don’t even have to have a good time.

Just get dressed and walk through the door.

The first time you go somewhere unfamiliar is often the hardest. But as the place and people become more familiar, the uncertainty can start to decrease and showing up may feel easier.

It’s the same trick people use with the gym: Don’t commit to the workout. Commit to putting on your clothes and stepping inside.

Make the first goal ridiculously small.

Because sometimes the hardest part isn’t *doing the thing.*

It’s getting yourself through the door. ❤️

That “OMG, they’re PERFECT” feeling might not mean you found *the one*. 👀

Healthy love often feels less like an explosion and more like a **slow burn**.

If someone you just met is:
🚩 Moving the relationship incredibly fast
🚩 Saying exactly what you’ve always wanted to hear
🚩 Making huge promises about your future
🚩 Treating you like their soulmate before they really know you
🚩 Making you feel like you’ve finally found the “perfect person”

Pay attention.

It could be **love bombing**, especially when intense affection and future promises are being used to create attachment quickly.

Chemistry is exciting. But chemistry isn’t compatibility.

The right person doesn’t need to convince you they’re perfect. You get to discover who they are over time.

**Save this for the next time someone feels almost *too* perfect, and send it to a friend who always falls HARD and FAST. 😂❤️**

I used to think intense chemistry meant I had found someone special.

Then I dated someone I was completely infatuated with who was absolutely wrong for me.

That experience became part of the reason I did my 100-Date Experiment. Dating so many different people taught me something I don't think I would have learned otherwise:

**The qualities that make someone an incredible partner are often quiet.**

Kindness isn't flashy.
Consistency isn't intoxicating.
Emotional safety doesn't always give you butterflies.
Someone treating you well might not create that immediate, obsessive, can't-stop-thinking-about-them feeling.

And I genuinely think I could have overlooked Tom if I hadn't learned to recognize those subtler qualities.

Sometimes the person who feels like ⚡️⚡️⚡️ isn't your soulmate. They're activating something in you.

And sometimes the person who feels calm, kind, consistent and safe is the person worth paying attention to.

Don't only ask: **“How intensely do I feel about them?”**

Ask: **“How do I feel when I'm WITH them?”**

Safe? Respected? Seen? Valued? Free to be yourself?

That information matters too. 💙
