There’s no question, we know how to do Halloween 🎃 Brisbane will once again be closing streets for the spooky holiday, this time from 5 - 8 PM!

🍬 At their September 3rd City Council meeting, the Council unanimously approved the road closures and recommendations made by the Complete Streets Safety Committee (staff report viewable at linktree in bio 🔗)

🗺️ In preparation for this year’s event, staff are working towards implementing those recommendations, which include a printed map featuring overflow parking areas 🅿️ for the volunteers to be able to hand out to visitors

🙋‍♀️ Right now, Lead Volunteer Jessica Aloft, who was instrumental in last year’s pilot closures, along with Sarah Mills, Emily Wirowek, and the 25 volunteers, including five from the Youth Advisory Committee, are looking for volunteers to help monitor the closed streets, be a resource for visitors, and remind trick-or-treaters about the streets re-opening at 8 PM. If you’d like to get involved, please reach out to Jessica at [email protected].

‼️ Please note: for the safety of all, absolutely NO motorized scooters or E-Bikes will be allowed within the closure area.

We look forward to a safe and successful event!

We recently received word that on behalf of the CPRS Aquatics Section Executive Board, our very own Recreation Coordinator Sara Nahass Lopez was selected as a Kathie Luecker Memorial Scholarship recipient! 👏👏 🎉 🏊‍♀️👏🛟👏🎉

The Scholarship Award is a total value of $700, some of which will go towards her California Aquatic Management School (CAMS) registration. Sara will be representing our Department at CAMS this October in West Hollywood. 💫

The California Aquatic Management School (CAMS) was formed in 2001 by a group of dedicated Aquatic Section leaders with a vision to conduct a premiere training for aquatic professionals. 🌊

CAMS offers vast networking opportunities as well as nationally recognized speakers discussing topics such as legislation, staff training, staff performance, facility design, program enhancements, emergency preparation, aquatic hot topics and much more.

Congratulations Sara!! We are proud of you! 🩵

Brisbane Seniors take on the Oakland Zoo! From giraffes lounging in the sun to gibbons swinging overhead, jaguars napping in style, and a bald eagle keeping watch — our group had a wild day exploring every corner of the zoo. Great company, great weather, and plenty of animal encounters to remember. Until next time! 🐾
