Well, Lawson Restivo Motorsports is officially complete, and I’m not sure who’s more excited, my husband or Lawson! 😂 Lawson is ready to move in with his rolling suitcase despite the minor detail of having NO POWER, Davin already has the couch and TV placement figured out. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Meanwhile, I’m just over here waving from the house, preparing to enter my peaceful era. ✌🏼They think they got a shop…I think I got a vacation!

Millbridge Speedway: Showed up, qualified 4th out of 26 cars. Finished the heat race P3 transferring straight to the A main. Was running in the top 5 when a car clipped the bumper leading to a spin. We drove back up to 11th but from there time ran out. We had lots of fun and our buddy Riley showed up to support.

This weekend was definitely going out with a bang. Like quite literally! In 160 we took a massive hit to the wall and the car was completely destroyed. Lawson wanted to go back out with the wheel hanging off the car backwards. We still held on to our P2 in the championship thankfully. He took that defeat and went into Junior Honda with a motive. We just told him to go pass cars. He shook out a winner. Super proud of him! We’re supposed to run Millbridge tonight but we’re fighting some kinda sickness so we will see.

We have a lot of updates to be made but we will leave this right here till we do. All our North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) handlers had a big weekend with an adult handlers inflatables race and a inflatables dance off. Mom gets forced yearly so here’s a few of her (Christmas reindeer) and my second race track momma Leah Zodarecky Kren (penguin) doing their thing! Clearly I need to add to my sponsors so I can get Mr. Kerry some actual help 🫣

We don't get to say thank you enough. Saturday racing would not be possible without this guy. He doesn't just care about my car and getting me on track. It is so much more than that! He pours into me every race to continue to build up my confidence and make me successful. It's not just a job to him but its friendship, love, a positive influence, and always pushing me to be better on and off the track. So, this Wednesday is Mr. Kerry Dowdell day because we are SUPER thankful!

Millbridge race recap:
Qualifying- honestly don’t even know where we ended up but it was way back there and we were slow. Dad went to work for the heat but we still couldn’t get the car to come in so we finished 5th and landed ourself in the B. Back to the drawing board dad went. In all fairness millbridge is a track that changes daily and we are dealing with huge weather drops so trying to pull out those cold weather set ups. This time dad nailed it and we won the B main transferring for the A. Here’s where things got interesting. When rolling out for the A we noticed Lawson ran into the back of the car in front of him lining up which isn’t much like him because he hates when people do it to him. We would later learn that his brakes had gone out and he was just trying to wing it. All was well until a wreck happened in front of him and there was no options but to just drive through it. He handled it all perfectly and did everything we taught him in that situation. Even with all the car issues he was fierce and continued to drive in every clear piece of track he could find to make passes. Photo of baby sissy cheering her bubba on!

Man what a weekend and where do I begin. The last few weeks we have been struggling behind the wheel. Lots of nerves, trouble passing, just feeling so defeated. Anyone that knows how kids in race cars are knows the best description is, it’s like a light switch that goes on and sometimes off out of no where. Well ours went out. This weekend it flipped back on. At a national race in a parking lot track of all places, which generally isn’t a strength of ours.

Jr 160: C ➡️ B ➡️ X car in the main where we didn’t ever make it out.

Jr Honda: We finished 6th in the A main out of 28 cars.

This little guy drove his tail off this weekend and definitely regained his confidence. We couldn’t be prouder of him. We came home with both cars fully in tact!

Last night was a late one. We transferred from the Jr 160 C main to the B main. Not sure how he pulled it off because 5 minutes before racing he was asleep in the hot chute awaiting his race. For today we’re in a rain delay and waiting to run that B main and run our Jr Honda A main. So for now we recover some missed sleep and recoup from yesterday!
