DA Family...We lost my Grandpa last Tuesday and had his funeral on Saturday. That evening, our whole family sat by my Mom's side and we said goodbye to her also, one of the most amazing women out there. She never missed a Dance Alliance show. Love you so much Mom!
A long-time resident of Howell, Cheryl Ann (Hissong) Clark, aged 74, passed away after a valiant decades-long battle with cancer. Born January 25, 1952, in Howell, she was the daughter of the late Robert Hissong and the late Marguerite Plumley. Cheryl was a graduate of Howell High School and received a bachelor’s in early education from Michigan State University. After some public-school teaching, Cheryl followed in her mother's footsteps and taught private piano and guitar lessons for decades; she even taught piano to some of her grandchildren. An avid outdoorswoman, Cheryl enjoyed hiking, kayaking, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. She taught both of her grandsons to snowboard/ski and might have been one of the only snowboarding grandmothers on the hill to conquer black diamond runs. Cheryl spent many summers with grandchildren swimming, tubing, kayaking, and canoeing. A fierce competitor, Cheryl was also a three-time APBA National Champion in the Women’s Jet Ski Division and enjoyed jet skiing as often as she was able. Most notably, Cheryl was deeply devoted to her family as evidenced by those gathered together in her final days. Cheryl will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her surviving family: Husband, Brad Clark of Howell. Children: Adam (Lisa) Clark of Brighton and Joanna (Ryan) Adams of Brighton. Grandchildren: Gabriel Clark, Brendan Clark, and Rylee Adams. Sister: Deborah Hissong (Tom Fink) of Traverse City. A public service will be held and following cremation, her final resting place will be at Sanford Cemetery near her beloved father. The family is being cared for by Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, formerly MacDonald’s Funeral Home, of Howell.
