There’s a difference between challenging your body and disrespecting it.
The recent incident at a major fitness competition has created a lot of conversation about what it really means to “push through.”
We’re all for competition. Competition can motivate us, challenge us and show us that we’re capable of more than we thought.
But somewhere along the way, parts of the fitness world have started glorifying the idea that stopping = weakness.
It doesn’t.
There comes a point when pushing through is no longer tough, productive or healthy. And when your decision begins affecting the health and safety of the people exercising around you, we’ve crossed an even bigger line.
Fitness should teach us to understand our bodies—not ignore them.
At Whole Strong, we absolutely want you to challenge yourself. Work hard. Get uncomfortable. Discover what you’re capable of.
But we also want you to know when to modify. When to recover. When to listen. And yes—when to stop.
The goal isn’t to prove how much your body can endure.
The goal is to build a body that serves you well for life.
That’s a very different definition of strong.
