✨ Back to enjoying the little things at Horse Haven Ranch ✨

When I first listed our property, I thought the combination of the home + turnkey boarding business would get a ton of interest. Six months later… it’s been pretty quiet, even for the facility itself. I had myself convinced we’d be packing up in a hurry, so I held off on a lot of things.

But the clients keep coming, the demand is growing, and I’ve decided it’s time to stop living on the edge of “what if it sells tomorrow” and start truly living here again.

So I did something I haven’t done in a while — I decorated the client suite! A lovely guest is arriving tonight, and while I’m still waiting on a couple more items, I couldn’t wait to share these finds:

* A sweet little addition to the snack bar
* Some beautiful patriotic dishware from my MIL Janet’s collection
* This awesome flag
* And these INCREDIBLE pillows (the quality is seriously outstanding!)

Still on the way: the bench cushion (arriving tomorrow), a welcome sign for the door, and a cute doormat.

I forgot how much fun this is! It feels good to add those special touches that make our guests feel right at home.

Oh — and one more thing! A couple years ago a client suggested disposable coffee cups. I found some great ones back then, but recently I went looking again and… WESTERN THEMED?! Amazon wins again 😂 These are perfect!

Grateful for every client who walks through our gates. Thank you for trusting us with your horses (and for the great ideas along the way) ❤️

🌞 Barn shuffle complete!

Anytime I let the boys out, they always end up hanging on the shadier, cooler side of the barn, so this morning I moved all their stalls over there.

Now the right side is perfectly positioned so our VRBO guests can literally look right out their window and see their horses — super convenient and comforting!
And if someone is traveling with a horse that prefers to stay outside (instead of the climate-controlled indoor stalls with orthopedic floors and breezeway visibility to the boys), they’ll still have a lovely view of our neighbor’s horses to help them settle in.

We’re also getting everything ready for a very special guest… Big Sam Sam is coming back to stay with us for July and August to beat the St. George heat! 🥳 Happy dance over here!

Always tweaking things to keep everyone as comfortable as possible.

Lots of antics and amazing moments at Horse Haven Ranch today! 🐴✨

We welcomed a wonderful new client and his beautiful horse, Brewer. They Googled “horse motel,” found us, and loved the horse-focused service right away. From text and photo updates to night checks and trailer cleaning — we’ve got our travelers covered, even when their owners don’t stay with us!

The boys had a great morning turnout between meals. As feeding time approached, Artax and Cas were standing right in front of the barn waiting like clockwork. Such a great photo op! 📸

I also got in some productive morning roundpen sessions with Licorice and Artax before it got too warm. Started Artax on the lunge line today to help him really understand “walk”… he was so confused at first (I think he was always made to trot before), but then he got it! He walked straight toward me with the sweetest proud little licks. My heart melted. 💕.

Licorice hates to work out, but a lot of times he'll give me some great kicks and bucks when he first gets out. Today he didn't really want to move, so he was a little bit mad at me. Usually when we get done, he'll think about it for a moment and then walk into me. Today. It took a couple of minutes for him too, but then he finally did.

The wash rack got some great use too — Maverick and Haven both got baths in the climate-controlled barn with hot and cold soft water. So comfortable, even in the summer heat! Maverick sheds like crazy, so the wash rack in the morning is a game-changer compared to doing it in the house. I absolutely LOVE my wash rack!

Parker got his spa treatment in the kitchen sink, and Haven & Parker are getting their summer cuts tomorrow as I keep working on my grooming skills.

Tomorrow it’s trims and shaves until our next frequent return client arrives!

Hey friends! 🐴✨

In our second video of the **Barn Chores Series**, I’m bringing you along for one of those real, everyday tasks — cleaning up manure and doing our regular stall picking!

It’s not the glamorous part of horse life, but it’s so important for keeping our barn clean, our horses healthy, and everything running smoothly. I walk you through our routine, share some tips we’ve learned along the way, and show how we handle it day in and day out.

If you’ve ever wondered how we stay on top of it this one’s for you!

✨ Hey everyone! ✨
Big update on the Utah Horse Directory
www.utahhorsedirectory.com
I now have 92 categories built in, with 40 of them fully complete and working great on both mobile and desktop!
I’m really excited to start building out the Horse Rescues category next, but I need your help!
If you know of any horse rescues (in Utah or beyond), please drop their names below and tag them!
Ones I already know about:
Horse Haven @ Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (Kanab)
Lazy B Equine Sanctuary
Dust Devil (Cedar)
HNH
Drage Second Chance
Special note: The directory is always free to list for Utah businesses, and I normally charge a small fee for out-of-state listings. But I’m waiving ALL fees for horse rescues — no matter where they’re located.

Let’s help give these amazing rescues more visibility! 💕

😂 My boys are cracking me up lately!
After breakfast they get to wander around, and they’ve started “locking” themselves together in one of the runs on the opposite side of the barn. This is the third or fourth time now, so I always go check on them… but they’re never stressed or making any noise. Just super calm and chill with each other until Mom comes to the rescue.
Too funny.

🐴 **Barn Floor FAQ!**

I’ve been getting so many questions and comments about the floors in my barn lately, so I wanted to clear things up!

The horses are NOT standing on concrete. This isn’t just a mat laid over concrete either. These are **Stable Comfort Orthopedic floors** — top-of-the-line orthopedic flooring specifically designed for horses.

They provide excellent cushioning, support, and comfort for our horses’ joints and hooves. I’m really happy with how they turned out!

The hardest thing about horses is they don’t come with a history manual. You don’t know what they’ve been through — the trauma, the pain, the fear — and it only shows up in their body and their behavior.

It’s like adopting a child who can’t speak your language, can’t tell you what happened to them, and can only react based on how they’re feeling in the moment. The only way to truly know them is through patience, observation, and putting the puzzle together piece by piece.

A horse’s hooves are like the rings in a tree — they tell the real story. Today, looking at Artax’s feet broke my heart… but they also showed me how far he’s already come.

This sweet boy was rescued before he came to me. He had severe laminitis in the past, and you can still see it clearly in his hooves. He also has trust issues with farriers and possible vision problems in his right eye, which makes him especially nervous about picking up that back leg.

His first trim with our farrier was rough — he wouldn’t let us pick up his back feet and shook the whole time. But today? Today he let me pick up that same hind foot (even while shaking), set it on the jack, and held it for the farrier. That moment meant everything. In his body he was scared, but he chose to trust me to keep him safe.

That kind of trust doesn’t happen overnight. It’s earned with patience and love.

Hello Artax, my love. You’ve found your person. I will do everything in my power to keep you safe, happy, comfortable, and deeply loved for the rest of your days. I promise to be patient, to listen with my heart, and to love you with my whole soul.

He’s sound, he’s improving fast, and he’s home.

Adopted: April 20, 2026
First trim: May 14, 2026
Second trim: June 1, 2026 (today)

Progress photos of Lic and Cas coming soon, but today belongs to this brave boy and his healing feet. 💕

💕 As requested — more specific chore videos!

I had someone comment that they wanted to see me do more of the actual work in the barn, so here’s exactly how I feed my boys in the evening and prep the hay pillows and hay.

Everyone has their own ways of doing barn chores — here’s a little behind-the-scenes of how we do ours! 🐴✨

Chores are SO much easier with attached runs, stable comfort orthopedic floors, and no shavings. We also love using Hay Pillows, Horse Hydrator water filters, Apple a Day electrolyte mix, and Glowyn pink Himalayan salt licks — all just signs of love for our horses and their health and wellness. ❤️
