🌟 PLAYER SPOTLIGHT | ZOEY HARRIS 🌟
Tampa Dynamo FC is incredibly proud to announce that U13 Girls Red player Zoey Harris has been selected to the ODP South Region Team — becoming one of only FIVE girls representing Florida! 🔴⚫️⚽️
An incredible achievement and one that reflects the work, commitment and development Zoey has shown throughout her journey.
Zoey admitted that her first reaction when she received the news was simply shock.
“I was honestly really surprised. I didn’t think I would make it this far. It made me realize that I’m capable of more than I thought, and now I’m like, okay, how far can I take this?”
Her ODP journey hasn’t been without nerves. Zoey spoke about feeling nervous before evaluations and playing alongside some of the strongest players in the region — but she has learned to use those nerves to push herself.
“It makes me want to work harder. I just go out there and try to do better than I did the last time.”
She also talked about watching video and thinking back on her performances to figure out what she could improve, something that has helped her keep growing throughout each stage.
Chris Farnworth, Tampa Dynamo Executive Director & Zoey’s U13 Girls Red Coach:
“Zoey has been with Tampa Dynamo since U9, so I’ve had the opportunity to watch her grow and develop over a number of years. What makes me most proud isn’t simply this selection, but how much she has matured as both a player and a person.
When she was younger, mistakes could really affect her and she sometimes lacked the confidence to show what she was capable of. To now see her stepping into high-pressure environments, competing with some of the best players around and having the confidence to express herself is fantastic.
She’s earned this opportunity. There is still so much development ahead of her, but that’s the exciting part. Hopefully Zoey’s journey shows every young player at Dynamo what can happen when you keep challenging yourself, embrace being uncomfortable and continue working at your game.”
Zoey also highlighted how her environment at Tampa Dynamo has helped her become more confident communicating and, importantly, taking more chances with the ball.
“I used to pass the ball right away when I got it. Now I feel more confident taking people on and trying things. My touch has gotten better, and I’m starting to see when I can move forward or make a better pass.”
One of the biggest lessons she has taken from ODP has been the importance of giving her best every time she steps onto the field.
“You always have to compete. It doesn’t matter if it’s a game or practice. You should always try to be the best you can be.”
And her message for the next generation of Dynamo players considering the ODP pathway:
“It’s okay to be nervous. Just use it to push you. Go out there, show what you can do, and give it your best.”
Zoey will now continue preparing for the next stage of her ODP journey while representing Tampa Dynamo throughout the season.
One of five representing Florida. 🇺🇸
One very proud Tampa Dynamo family. ❤️🖤
Congratulations, Zoey — you’ve earned it! 👏⚽️
