Seeing my riders love and appreciate the horses and ponies they ride is one of my favorite things to watch. I try to constantly remind my students that the partnership we develop with horses is the highest priority in our lessons. We ride for the love of the horse, not the sport.

I check the weather everyday....sometimes multiple times a day, because I work outside and I'm responsible for the care and comfort of the animals.

I saw a heat advisory for Chesire County today and it reminded me it's time for my annual break down of "When is it Too Hot for Riding Lessons". I think these infographics really explain things well.

My primary concern is the safety of my horses and riders were looking at the temperatures and heat index and deciding on lessons. There's a lot of ways we can mitigate some of the risk, but ultimately sometimes it's just too hot to risk the health of everyone involved.
