On August 10, 2026, a powerful 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia, affecting communities including Cali, Quindío, Risaraldo, and surrounding regions. As families begin the difficult work of recovery, YMCAs in Colombia are checking on staff, volunteers, participants, and families in the communities most affected. They are also listening closely so that support can be directed where it is needed most, including:
1. Caring for YMCA staff, volunteers, and their families who have been directly affected by the earthquake, including those facing property damage, medical needs, or other urgent hardships.
2. Repairing and rebuilding damaged YMCA facilities so local YMCAs can safely continue serving children, youth, families, and communities.
3. Providing longer-term support for people impacted by the earthquake, coordinated through the National Council of YMCA Colombia.
For individuals who would like to donate to disaster relief through the YMCA to our long-standing partners in Colombia, we invite you to give through the YMCA World Service Fund (https://hubs.li/Q04t3SnY0). Your support will directly benefit the urgent priorities above in the YMCA locations most impacted: Quindío, Cali, and Risaralda. Please indicate "YMCA Colombia" in the in the Comments/Special Designations box.
