🎉🐎 DRAWING DAY IS HERE! 🐎🎉

Today is the day!

After 120 days, thousands of sessions, countless hours spent with horses, and one incredible challenge, we will be drawing for the prizes from the 2026 Horsemanship Challenge!

Before we start drawing names, please take ONE LAST look through the participant spreadsheet if you have not already done so.

Over the past few days, we have:
✅ Added late submissions
✅ Made corrections that were sent in
✅ Reviewed and updated participant information

If you have already checked your information, thank you! If not, now is the time.

Remember:
• Regular Division participants must have completed 60 sessions to be eligible for end-of-challenge prizes.
• Frozen Rider Division participants must have completed 45 sessions to be eligible.
• If you do not see your name on the list, it is likely because the minimum session requirement was not met.

We are incredibly proud of every single person who chose to show up for their horse over the last four months. Whether your name is drawn today or not, the real win was the consistency, confidence, and progress you built with your horse along the way.

🎓 Graduation Day for Slick 🎓

Slick came to us for 60 days to continue his education, build on his foundation, and gain confidence in his job. Over the last two months, we’ve had the privilege of getting to know this horse, helping him grow, and watching him develop into a more prepared and willing partner for his owner.

Training is never about creating a finished horse. It’s about giving both horse and owner the tools they need to continue building together once they get home. Our goal is always to leave a horse better than we found them and to set them up for long-term success.

Slick, you’ve been a pleasure to have in the barn, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for you and your family.

Congratulations on your graduation, buddy. Safe travels home. ❤️

👕🐎 The Horsemanship Challenge Shirts Are Here! 🐎👕

The 2026 Horsemanship Challenge may have come to an end, but the lessons, memories, and miles put in with our horses don't stop here.

Over the last 120 days, you showed up.
On the cold days.
On the busy days.
On the days you didn't feel like it.
And on the days when everything finally started to click.

Whether you completed 60 sessions, 100 sessions, or simply challenged yourself to be more consistent with your horse, we're proud of what this community accomplished.

In this industry, staying stagnant doesn't cut it. It takes pushing, learning, reaching, and refining constantly. We don't just preach it, we believe it.
We had the privilege of hosting Matheus Bento over the weekend for a great Reined Cow Clinic! We all learned a lot, exposed our horses to more, and had many laughs in the process!

Snipers Flashy Gun is gearing up for the cow clinic this weekend with his owner Katie Rigney Rohrig and then heading back home for her to enjoy!

We love watching these colts grow up into themselves and are so thankful for the trust Katie has put into us to help him along.

Jacob demonstrating beautifully this morning what we discussed in our post about a Relaxed and Nice Topline in our horses.

Notice when the head comes up, it’s a lack of forward. So Jacob squeezes him back forward with this leg and lightly touches to the reins. We’ve not worked on this horse being low headed. We’ve worked on him having a relaxed topline, and lifted back and that’s where his head and neck fall.

Big shout out to Dr. Becky Scarlett for helping him through having some stickiness in his stifles! She’s got him feeling fantastic.

It takes the full picture, and we are thrilled with what this horse and Jacob are presenting!

PART ONE OF A HAPPY AND RELAXED TOPLINE

One of the most common mistakes we see when people are searching for a lower, softer neck with a lifted and engaged topline is that they focus on the neck itself.

The reality is that a truly relaxed neck doesn’t start at the nose. It starts behind the saddle.

When a horse is moving correctly, the energy is generated from the hind end, travels up through the body, over the back, and then naturally falls out through the neck and poll. The neck is simply the end result of everything happening underneath it.

Think of the topline like a water hose.

The hind end creates the pressure. The energy flows forward through the horse’s body just like water through a hose.

But what happens if you put a kink in that hose?

Maybe the rib cage is braced.
Maybe the back is tight.
Maybe the shoulders are restricted.
Maybe the horse is being held together with the rider’s hands instead of connected through the body.

That energy has to go somewhere.

Just like water finding the weakest point in a hose, the pressure leaks out somewhere in the horse’s body. Often it leaks out through a high head, a stiff neck, a hollow back, rushing feet, pinned ears, tail swishing, or other forms of resistance.

Then many riders try to fix the symptom by pulling the neck down.

But the neck wasn’t the problem.

The body was.

Instead of asking, “How do I get his head lower?” try asking, “What is preventing the energy from flowing through his body?”

When the hind end is engaged, the rib cage is lifted, the back is soft, and the shoulders are free, you’ll often find the neck starts to fall into place on its own.

The goal isn’t to put the horse’s head somewhere.

The goal is to create a body that makes carrying the neck there the easiest option.

The neck is a reflection of the body.

Fix the body, and the neck usually follows.
