If you know me at all, you know that I am so, so C-U-R-I-O-U-S! I simply cannot stop asking questions…trying to understand…wanting…needing to get to the thing behind the thing behind the thing. I shamelessly and aggressively CHASE knowledge - I simply have to know what makes things tick, and that multiplies exponentially when it comes to knowing and understanding people!!!

If you know me, you know I’ve not oversold this reality. And if you know me, I have to warn you, because now that I know Dan Uslan, things are about to go to a whole new level! You see, Dan not only matches my curiosity…Dan exceeds it, AND he is by nature and design a CURIOSITY ENERGIZER! Dan’s enthusiasm for learning stimulates and excites others to eagerly and passionately explore their world!

So, as he left my Collaboration Space Tuesday afternoon, I was buzzing with energy and pulsing with a need to explore my world! I felt totally and completely alive!

But Dan doesn’t just make people FEEL more alive, he actually uses his energetic curiosity to make people’s lives and journeys SAFER and SMOOTHER! He literally - by trade - identifies solutions that prevent disease and infection, allowing the rest of us to move through the world pursuing our dreams and desires, because he is innovating and inventing plans that fix genuine, human problems.

He says it this way…

I EXIST TO JOYFULLY BUILD KIND, LOVING, EMPATHETIC SOLUTIONS WITH ENERGETIC CURIOSITY!

So, first, Dan, thank you for stoking my curiosity, but more than that, thank you for your energetic, passionate proactivity when it comes to making our world safer and safer so I can keep doing this job I love and living my life with the family and friends I love. Thank you!

There’s much that could be said about Fred - he’s lived a pretty remarkable life and achieved the kind of athletic and professional success that tempts the rest of us to say, “I met a guy who ____________!”

I could tell you story after story about Fred that would leave you wowed and impressed, but honestly the most impressive, inspiring, and refreshing thing about him is that he’s kind…GENUINELY KIND…he intuitively sees and intentionally validates the inherent value in people, loves them for who they are, and encourages them to pursue and enjoy their unique identity and path. Or as Fred says it…

“I exist to nurture authentic acceptance and kindness by energizing growth and creating connections!”

I get to meet the best people! And that’s one of the biggest reasons I LOVE MY JOB!!! How cool is it that I get to do this for a living?!?!?!?!

Feeling so incredibly humbled, grateful, and hopeful after last week’s Owners Retreat in New York City! Interwoven into all of the shows, tours, and delicious meals was time spent looking back on and celebrating the last 5 years, as well as time spent imagining what the years ahead hold for Hayah and our clients! So excited to watch it all unfold, but what I’m most excited about and most grateful for is the ongoing support and encouragement of my amazing wife whose work founding and leading over the last 11 years has been and continues to be an inspiration to me!

Super excited to tell this story when the time is right! In many ways, it began with a chance encounter in the media room of a church 15-16 years ago, took a really fun turn 7ish years ago, and started gaining community-impacting, future-shaping momentum a little over a year ago…and these last 2 days, well, they put some high octane fuel in the tank as the story barrels forward into a new, crazy fun, life-giving turn! For the last 9 months, I’ve been proudly partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lone Star, specifically working with their Interim CEO and long time CFO, Jennifer Scott, as she, their Executive Leadership Team, and Board navigated their CEO search and a merger.

So when they asked me to facilitate their All-Staff Retreat in San Antonio, I quickly rearranged my calendar to make it happen - the opportunity to deepen my relationship with this amazing team was one I simply couldn’t miss out on! That was 3 months ago…that was before they knew who their new CEO would be.

So when I found out last Monday that they’d officially offered the position to Jenny Harper and I’d not only get to meet her via Zoom on Wednesday, but that I’d get to meet her in person on Thursday minutes before she was announced to the whole team, my energy and enthusiasm went through the roof!

What made it even better was that Jenny was the only internal candidate they considered. For the last 7 years, she’s been the Dallas Market President; so when the announcement came Thursday evening, it was immediately met with a roar of applause! What a special moment!

Quick side note: Not only has Jenny been the Dallas Market president for the last 7 years; before that, Jenny was their Director of Match Support for 8.5 years, and before that, she was a Match Support Coordinator for 5 years. All told, she’s been part of Lone Star for 20 years!

So when given the opportunity to suggest a retreat superlative for the whole team to weigh in on, I suggested “Most Likely To Be Lone Star’s CEO in 20 Years,” and when a young woman named Simone was announced as the winner and made her way to the stage with tears in her eyes and a giant smile on her face, I found my face doing the same!

It’s moments like this with people like these that make me feel so humbled…so grateful…that THIS is what I get to do every day! I love my job!

In our twenty years of friendship,
Sarah and I have experienced all the things.

All.
The.
Things.

So when she reached out to me earlier this year saying she might be ready for a big change and she thought maybe I could help her figure out what it could and should be, I opened my calendar and said, “Tell me when!”

And to be present as she made her discoveries…
well, I can’t begin to share what that was like.

There are no words to describe what it’s like to watch your friend of 20 years see themselves with absolute clarity, love what they see, and begin sketching the path you’ll get to watch them walk in and enjoy for the next 20 years.

Only slightly cooler than that was watching and listening as Sarah shared all of her discoveries with my wife who’s also been present for all-the-things and hearing her enthusiastically affirm every last word of it, especially when Sarah announced…

“I exist to encourage safe relationships and wellness through open, honest sharing with an anchoring presence.”

I never cease to be amazed by the incredible people I have the privilege of meeting and partnering with, and when it comes to someone sent my way by Simon Quick Advisors LLC, well, they somehow take things to a whole new level.

A wealth management firm serving high-networth clients, Simon Quick and its advisors could easily fall prey to being “all about the $$$.” Instead, they have created and nurtured an incredible culture that really, truly, actually, and intentionally lives their values and prioritizes community impact. And to sustain and scale a culture like this, SQ goes out of its way to only hire kind, honest, trustworthy, highly ethical, genuinely fun people who are committed to the success of others and the betterment of the communities they live in.

And this week, from this incredible team who I’ve had the privilege of partnering with for 4.5 years, came Dan Weitz, the man whose peers voted Best Of The Best at “Upholding The Highest Ethical Values”! And trust me, he lived up to the billing!

If I skip over all the amazing things that happened and all the discoveries we made during his iLEAD experience and fast-forward straight to the end, you’ll see what I mean. After nearly 18 hours together…after circling his life and work again and again, considering every perspective possible…we finally found the words to describe what it is that people experience when they get around him…we saw with clarity why he has such a solid reputation with his clients and peers…we both got chills (and maybe a tear or two welled in our eyes) when we saw with undeniable certainty that…

Our two days were incredible; there’s no doubt about that, but what I’m truly excited to see is what the next year, two years, three years hold for Dan and those privileged to be in his network as this absolute “A” player levels up to an “A+” player SIMPLY BY BEING MORE HIMSELF!

I love working with people who are in the habit of consistently looking for ways to improve themselves and their surroundings, and my enjoyment goes to a whole new level when I find out that the reason they’re working so hard at self-improvement is because they want to make life and work better for everyone in their circle.

So, to say that walking through Chandra’s iLEAD with her last week was “fun, rewarding, and incredibly satisfying” would be a gross understatement!

Chandra’s whole life - literally, her whole purpose for being on planet Earth - is to help other people choose what’s best for them, then stand with them as they take steps to get healthier, better, safe, and more stable. In fact, midway through our second day together, she said, “I dream about everyone having a safe space and feeling understood, leading to better outcomes and morals.” In other words, she makes intentional choices to help people who will, in turn, help other people accomplish more and live more ethical and impactful lives.

and I met just shy of two years ago through our mutual friend and shortly after began working together as she exited her CEO role and launched her new coaching business . Fast forward to the end of 2025 when and I began planning a vacation to Charleston, SC, and we both knew we’d happily and excitedly be grabbing at least one meal with Merridith while we were in town!

When she did her iLEAD, we discovered that Merridith exists to stimulate change through deep, purposeful connection and strategic understanding. I know I’ve changed for the better through our deep, purposeful connection, and I continue to love hearing about all of her clients who are experiencing the same!
