Here are 4 variations of training deceleration mechanics following an ACL repair!
✴️When getting back into jumping, cutting, and decelerating, athletes tend to develop an unconscious fear of knee flexion and anterior tibial translation (allowing the knee to drive past the foot).
✴️The tendency is to stiffen the leg, land with an upright posture, and absorb force through the hip rather than bending the knee and loading the quad.
✴️The band gives a few benefits in this situation:
1️⃣Gives slightly more forward momentum to encourage anterior tibial translation
2️⃣Adds to the eccentric (slowing) demands of the quad and soleus, which are key in reducing re-injury rates
3️⃣ The horizontal pull cues the athlete to further engage glutes and core for optimal deceleration!
