Celebrating 25 years of Pure Barre strong hits different in this 90-minute, all-format fusion class designed to leave you sweaty (and smiling). Featuring ALL of the Pure Barre essentials–dynamic choreography, power-driven weight training, luxurious stretches, and plenty of form-focused isometrics–this Focus class delivers a muscular endurance and strength-heavy workout only the way that Pure Barre can.

Congrats to Bridget for being our May Member of the Month!

How did you hear about Pure Barre?

  ❤️ I started Pure Barre in Perrysburg, Ohio in 2021 in the middle of Covid. At the time,
there were many restrictions and very small classes. Shortly after starting, I took three
months off for knee replacement, and then slowly but surely regained my strength.
When my husband finally retired and we knew we were moving back to Kalamazoo, I’ve been taking classes for 5 years now.

How has taking Pure Barre impacted your life?
  ❤️ I am truly addicted. I just feel better after class. Pure Barre has been a positive part of my life, and I plan to continue for as long as I am able.
 
Of all the things to love about Pure Barre, what do you love most?
❤️ Being an older person, I particularly like the low impact nature and the fact that we work on strength, balance, and flexibility. I also swim regularly, and having learned to isolate muscles which has helped me to improve my form when swimming.
 
Where are you originally from? Where did you go to school? What did you study?
 
  ❤️ I grew up in Big Rapids where I obtained my Associates degree in court reporting. Since then, I have been finding ways to continue learning, and next year I will graduate from the University of Chicago with a Master’s certificate in Great Books.
 
What do you love to do in your free time?
  ❤️ In my free time, I love working with kids with reading. I have just finished my first year
 tutoring a third grader, and I helped coach a local Global Reading team. The rest of my spare time is spent with my grandson Arlo going to gymnastics class, music class, and his favorite place, the Air Zoo. We have a lot of fun and mom and dad get a break.

❤️ One funny thing that happened last year was when my husband took me to Portsmouth, Ohio for a family reunion. When he introduced me to his cousin’s daughter, we recognized each other from Pure Barre. She asked me if I missed Pure Barre and I was able to inform her that I still attend classes.

25 years. Countless journeys.

From first classes to life’s biggest moments, Pure Barre has been there through it all. For so many in our community, that includes the journey into motherhood.

Here is Nicole's story:
Pure Barre has impacted my journey through motherhood in so many meaningful ways. Before pregnancy, I stayed active by attending classes about five times a week, which helped me stay toned, strong, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. During pregnancy, I appreciated how Pure Barre allowed me to continue working out safely by modifying movements when needed. I was able to lower weights, adjust positions, and still get a great workout while listening to my body. After each of my three pregnancies, I wanted to ease back into fitness gradually, and Align became the perfect postpartum format for me. It helped me gently reconnect with movement and rebuild strength. After discovering I had diastasis recti, I knew I needed workouts that would safely target and strengthen my core. I’m so thankful that Pure Barre has helped me slowly close the gap and feel stronger again. Overall, I love how the different class formats have supported my body through every stage of motherhood. I’m incredibly grateful for the Pure Barre community and the encouragement, strength, and support it has provided me along the way.

: From walking into the studio as a client in 2012, to managing, teaching, and now owning, Pure Barre has been with me through every season. Throughout those years, Pure Barre has been my constant through many life stages: a newly engaged young professional, a cross-country move where it became my community, three pregnancies, and “me time” as a working mom of three young girls.

It has given me a profound respect for the longevity of this workout and its ability to support a woman’s body through every stage of life, meeting her where she is while continuing to challenge her to grow.
