Ford Racing opened up the new Ford Racing Experience facility in Dearborn for a sneak preview today! It kicked off with a car show and fun talking about cars, Ford and otherwise, then there was an official ribbon cutting, and we got to check out the displays of a HUGE wall of trophies Ford has won racing everything from NASCAR to drag racing to sports cars to off road.
It'll be open to the public like the Ford Store and Lincoln experience room, I think. It'll be cool to check it all out!
Got to enjoy a cool chat with Christopher Polvoorde and then enjoy brekky and the F1 Dutch Grand Prix.
It was a really cool event and wound up being worth getting up early for! Better luck next time, Max.

So much content I haven't been sharing is becoming stale. But The Baron is a fresh source of "fun"! We drove up and down the street yesterday!
Any clever ideas for making a 33 year old rear wheel drive car without Traction Control or Stability Control a winter be**er? I'm gonna give it max spring spacers for some extra clearance and snow tires (Toyos look like dirt track tires!)

OK, Michigan car fans, it's time for the annual "spot the uncommon car on Woodward" challenge for this year!
I was gonna make it easy, but....
If you spot a DODGE STEALTH or MITSUBISHI 3000GT, you're a winner! Yay for you! :D
These things disappeared so much before the internet era, that it's a challenge to find a good reference picture!
Keep your eyes on the road and the car in front of you, but enjoy the spotter challenge!

It felt wonderful to get back behind the wheel of "As***le", my 1992 Mercedes 190E 2.3 about a year after it developed a serious driveability issue (vacuum leaks all of a sudden? Weird). We got about 60 miles in today!
Bonus joy came from the discovery that the boilover it had for a while wasn't (necessarily) from the head gasket but just the janky old radiator cap!

Why the hell is RTV so expensive?
And how much of that is really in the packaging? Why not sell it in half-size packages so we don't have to throw so much away?
P.S.: local tip: 's Industrial Tools in Redford usually has some cheap.

There's a sound we haven't heard much lately....
Test drive was successful, aside from low gas causing it to stall. But parked it restarted and finished the drive to the gas station. I'd already used the last of my home gas getting As***le to start.
There was another joyous first start of the year to be shared in the next post...

Gambler 500 action!
Managed to fit the Detroit Gambler 500 into the calendar! After a wonderful day of Gamblerprep on Friday, including noting that I'd need new rear brakes "soon", I noticed a grinding sound on the way to the kickoff Saturday morning. Well at least I was already planning on driving right by my house!
It was great to be able to see some old friends and share a brief adventure!
People are really raising the stakes with Gambler cars: upgrading to 4x4s and luxury cheater class! There were some great rides out there.

And to the as****es at camp blowing off fireworks that sounded like a 16 inch naval cannon from 2:00-4:00AM... Don't be a dick.
