We will be holding a NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting/ CCW Course OH/WV at the Point Pleasant Gun Club on June 27, 2026. If you need some education on Basic Pistol handling or want to sharpen your skills on the range, as well as being able to obtain a CCW permit, then please plan on attending. The Point Pleasant Gun Club lost one of its Charter members recently. Kinzy C. Smith 1935-2026 passed away March 31, 2026, he was 91.

Kinzy started registering ATA targets in 1965.

In 1967 he won the Mid-American Championship at Middletown, OH and tied for Runner up in the 1967 Grand American Handicap Championship (99).

In 1968 he won the WV State Doubles Championship (92), WV All Around Championship (387×400), Open High Overall (627×650) and the 22-23 yard handicap Prize (97).

In 1972 he tied for the WV Singles Championship losing to Frank Hall in the shoot off.

In 1976 Kinzy won the WV Handicap Championship in 1976 with a 94 from the 25.5 yard line.

Kinzy made it to 27 yard line in June 1977

2004 Veteran Runner up GA Parliament Coach Handicap (97)

2005 tied for WV Handicap Championship (96) placed 3rd after shoot off

50 Year ATA Grand American Attendance Patch

Over his career Kinzy's registered ATA targets equalled- 99450 singles, 106425 handicap and 41950 doubles.

We were so blessed to hold our 1st annual "Kinzy Smith Classic" ATA Shoot last year, with Kinzy attending, talking with our youth shooters, and actually scoring a few rounds. So in honor of Kinzy, we will continue this on June 13, 2026. Updates will be posted soon. We here at the Point Pleasant Gun Club offer our thoughts and prayers to Kinzy's family and many friends. Come out and help us celebrate in June.

The Armed Women of America- Southeast Ohio Chapter will be hosting a "Stop The Bleed" training from 11am-1pm at the Point Pleasant Gun Club. The cost is $15 and no pre-registration is required to attend. This is open to the public, so bring your family and friends.
