Congratulations to the 1989 and 1993 soccer teams on their induction into the point pleasant high school athletic hall of fame. Both teams won the regional championship and played in the state tournament final 4!

Michael Lovejoy - Class of 1990

Michael was a three-year starter in soccer and is
recognized as one of the top three defenders in PPHS history. In 1989, he earned First Team All-State Defender honors and was named Co-Defensive MVP.

He was a two-time All-PAC selection, and in 1989, he anchored a defense that allowed less than half a goal per game all season. From his defensive position, he surrendered only two goals all year.

During his career, Michael was part of the most successful class in school history, posting an incredible record of 55 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie, winning 92% of their games. That era of soccer at Point Pleasant claimed three sectional titles, one regional title, and a Final Four appearance.

After graduation, Michael went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Mountain State University.

He has continued to serve his community as a nurse with Holzer. He and his wife are the proud parents of three children, all who have carried on the tradition of playing soccer at Point Pleasant High School. Michael has also remained deeply committed as a soccer booster while his children play.

Phil Jones - Class of 1971

After graduating, Phil went on to work for AEP River Division for 45 years, retiring in 2021. Over the past 25 years, he has become one of the most loyal and dependable supporters of Point Pleasant athletics, serving in multiple booster organizations.

Phil has dedicated countless hours to the baseball and softball programs, helping maintain the fields and assisting in major construction projects. His hard work was essential during the building of the new baseball field, the reconstruction of the softball field, and the creation of the new indoor softball facility. Anytime a project has needed extra hands, Phil has been there, always willing to help PPHS athletes succeed.

Beyond athletics, Phil has also given his time to the community through his work with organizations such as Toys for Tots.

Phil continues to live here in Point Pleasant with his wife Cindy, and he remains a role model of volunteerism, loyalty, and community pride.
