SCCD has been working with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Colorado River Sustainability Campaign (CRSC), the U.S. Forest Service and the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) to install a snowtography station in the Wyoming Range.
Snowtography is a monitoring approach used to measure how forest conditions and timber management influence snow accumulation, snowmelt, and soil moisture. By combining automated trail cameras, graduated snow stakes, buried soil moisture sensors, and weather instrumentation, researchers collect data across multiple winters to better understand how forests affect water storage and release.This site has 150 snow stakes, 73 soil moisture monitoring positions, three weather stations and a snowfall and snow water equivalent sensor.
SCCD staff and partners worked to install the site in June. SCCD will be collecting data at the site throughout winterto inform management decisions and provide a better understanding of how forests and snowpack interact.

SCCD recently gave a tour to members of The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) Colorado River Program of our Low-Tech Process-Based Restoration (LTPBR) sites and our Snowtography site, both of which are funded in part by TNC.

SCCD was honored to join in this years Wyoming Youth Resource Education Days (WyRED). Our staff was able to be a part of teaching Wyoming’s youth about our county’s resources, conservation and educate them on natural resource issues. The camp included a tour of different projects in Sublette County, many of which SCCD is a part of.
We are grateful for the opportunity to educate these students on natural resources.

SCCD was privileged to get a tour of Silver Stream Farm. Staff and board members got to see the inner workings of the greenhouses, mushroom trailer and the new outdoor garden.
We are excited to support them as they continue to grow fresh food.
