❤️ The Heart Behind Outback Legacy Ranch — A Little About Me ❤️
With so many new faces following our journey, I thought it was time to introduce myself and share a little about the heart and story behind Outback Legacy Ranch.
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Lynn, the owner of Outback Legacy Ranch. First and foremost, I’m a daughter, a mother, a dreamer, and someone who believes that sometimes life’s greatest blessings come from finding your way back to where your heart has always belonged.
Horses have not always been a part of who I am. Life took me in a different direction, and I spent nearly 30 years building a career in the corporate world. Somewhere along the way, the country life became a part of my past rather than my everyday life.
And then life changed.
In 2023, I lost my dad, Steve Cockerum. Losing him changed me in ways I don’t think I’ll ever fully be able to explain. My dad was so much more than just my father. He was part of my foundation, my strength, and the person behind so much of who I am today.
Outback Legacy Ranch was born out of love, loss, and a desire to keep his legacy alive.
The name Outback Legacy holds a very special meaning. My dad’s dream home was on a ranch at Outback Estates, and when I began building this next chapter of my life, I knew I wanted his memory woven into everything I created.
This ranch is my way of honoring him. A way of carrying a piece of him forward and building something I hope would make him proud.
What started as a dream has grown into a Quarter Horse breeding program focused on exceptional cutting and cow horse bloodlines, quality horses, and preserving the characteristics that make these animals so extraordinary.
But Outback Legacy is about so much more than breeding horses.
It’s about second chances. Finding yourself again. Having the courage to start over, even when you don’t have all the answers. It’s about hard work, early mornings, sleepless nights during foaling season, muddy boots, and the incredible peace that comes from being surrounded by horses.
It’s also about my own journey of getting in the saddle after so many years and hopefully soon to the show pen. I’m still learning, still growing, and discovering that sometimes the things that heal us most are the things that bring us back to our roots.
There are days I wish more than anything that I could pick up the phone and tell my dad about something exciting happening here. A new baby hitting the ground, a horse doing something amazing, or another little milestone that once seemed impossible.
I’d give anything to hear his voice one more time.
But I like to believe he’s still here in some way, watching over it all. ❤️

Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or just recently found us, I’m truly grateful you’re here.
I’m not building this ranch just to raise great horses. I’m building something that means something. Something that lasts. Something my children can be proud of. Something that carries my father’s memory forward long after I’m gone.
Because at the end of the day, Outback Legacy isn’t just a name on a gate. It’s a story of love, perseverance, family, and the legacy we leave behind.
