โ„๏ธ WANT TO SAY โ€œI HELPED BUILD THIS TRAILโ€ THIS WINTER? ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Weโ€™re SO close to finishing the new trails at GPRA - and now we need a few more hands to get them ready for snow!

We have 10 trail segments up for adoption, and weโ€™re looking for families, friends, teams, coworkers, and anyone who loves these trails to claim a section and help put on the finishing touches.

๐ŸŒฟ Clip a few roots
๐Ÿชจ Toss rocks off the trail
๐Ÿ‚ Rake and smooth
๐Ÿ’™ Leave your little piece of GPRA better than you found it!

No big time commitment required. Give us an hour, an afternoon, or make it a group outing. Pick a trail segment and head out when it works for you during September and into early October.

And there are a couple of fun perksโ€ฆ

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ TRAIL WORK = PRIZE ENTRY!
Everyone who volunteers this fall will be entered into our prize drawing at the Annual Trail Work Day on October 10!

๐Ÿš— Volunteer 8+ hours with MSSC this season and receive a FREE 2027 MSB Annual Parking Pass, good at GPRA and many other Borough trailheads!

But the best part?

When you ski these trails this winter, youโ€™ll know you helped get them there. โ„๏ธ

๐Ÿ‘€ Well, hello there, snow.
August 31 and Hatcher Pass is already giving us a little preview of whatโ€™s to come. โ„๏ธ Weโ€™re not firing up the groomers quite yet... but you better believe weโ€™re paying attention!
We canโ€™t wait to get back to Independence Mine this fall and start laying down those early-season tracks. A big thank you to our friends at Hatcher Pass Lodge for being part of what makes early-season skiing at the Mine so special.
Summer, we love you. Winter... we see you. ๐Ÿ‘€โ„๏ธ

๐Ÿšœ A big thank you to our new friends at RB Equipment Rentals for helping keep our summer trail expansion project moving forward!

This Skid Steer has been an incredible asset, helping to smooth new trail surfaces and move material. We've got the machine, an amazing crew, and big plans. Now we're just waiting for that forecasted sunshine to show up! โ˜€๏ธ

We're grateful for local businesses like RB Equipment Rentals that invest in projects benefiting our entire community. Thanks for helping us build trails that skiers, hikers, bikers, and families will enjoy for years to come! ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿšœ ๐Ÿšง The Final Piece Is Falling Into Place at GPRA!

Five projects. One incredible summer.

Between Alaska's rainstorms, our crew found just enough dry weather to keep moving, and Project #5, the Inner Pioneer Loop, is now completely roughed in from start to finish! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

It's hard to believe that just a few weeks ago these were simply flagged routes through the woods. Today, you can already see the newest loop taking shape. Come winter, these muddy machine tracks will become fresh ski tracks. โ„๏ธ

What makes this project even more remarkable is the community behind it. Our volunteers have already donated an estimated 200+ hours clearing trees, flagging routes, hauling equipment, operating machinery, and pitching in wherever needed.

These trails are about much more than dirt and trees. They are the result of a community coming together. To every volunteer, donor, sponsor, and supporter who has shared your time, talent, or treasure, we thank you. Together, you've transformed a vision on paper into trails that will connect people with the outdoors for decades to come. ๐Ÿซถ ๐Ÿฉต

โžก๏ธ Swipe through to see just a few days of progress on the final project!

๐ŸŒ Learn more and keep up with project progress on our website at www.matsuski.org

โ„๏ธ Fast forward to this winter... Who will be the first person you bring to explore the new Inner Pioneer Loop?

07/10/2026

๐Ÿšœ Take a ride down the brand-new Marmotโ€“Arkose Shortcut!

Who doesnโ€™t love a new trail? ๐Ÿ˜ Itโ€™s exciting to see this newest connection taking shape and we canโ€™t wait to experience it covered in snow this winter. โ„๏ธ

Stay tunedโ€ฆ thereโ€™s still more trails to build! ๐ŸŒฒ

๐ŸŽ‰ We're Almost There! ๐Ÿšง ๐Ÿšœ

The trail expansion at Government Peak Recreation Area just keeps rolling!

๐Ÿ”ฅ Last week we broke ground on the new Nordic ski trail within the Denali Loop, and...
โœ… The Marmotโ€“Arkose Shortcut is complete!

That means we're on schedule, and once these sections are finished, we'll move into the final project of the summer - the Inner Pioneer Loop! Every week, the full vision becomes a little more real.

And here's the best part...

๐Ÿ’š Thanks to several recent donations, we've now raised $19,800 toward our $20,000 goal! We're just $200 away from fully funding this year's trail expansion! ๐Ÿ™Œ

A huge thank you to our friends at the MTA Foundation for their generous support and for helping bring us within sight of the finish line.

Our community is coming together to build something that will benefit generations to come, and we can't wait to welcome you onto these new connections soon. Whether you're skiing, hiking, running, or mountain biking, these trails are being built by your community, for your community.

Thank you for being part of the journey. Let's finish strong! ๐Ÿ’š
