10/10/26 race weekend recap at Madera Speedway
In Friday practice, we made one run in with my car before an issue was noticed. Team jumped right on it and fixed it.
While they fixed it I took the 21 car out for 2 runs. I got one run in right at the end of morning practice with my car and the speed we had never left.
Evening practice went well. Kept that same speed we had.
On Saturday, everything started a bit earlier. I felt pretty good.
Qualified a 15.2 in the jr. and a 15.12 in the pro. That made it where we qualified 3rd for Jrs and 6th for the pros.
With an invert I started 2nd in the Jr.
We had a really fast car. We went green for the first 40 and led every lap to the lap 40 break. About lap 55 while leading the power steering hose blew and I lost all power steering. We tried our best but ultimately finished 6th.
My team did a really good job to fix the car for the pro race.
We started 5th in the pro with the 10 car invert. I was very confident in the car before we went green. I knew we had a good piece with how good the car was in the Jr. race.
We went green and I was battling for 2nd. About lap 15 the bolt holding the shock on snapped.
The team did everything in their power to get that car back out there and they did! We restarted 19th. We lost one lap but quickly gained it back. The car was still on rails after that. We kept picking off cars and by lap 50 we were in 8th.
I was running the top making passes but got squeezed to the wall. I kept it off the wall barely but my bumper was stuck in the other car so I was just along for the ride.
I thought my night was over but my team said they didn’t see any fluid coming from my car so I backed away from the wreck and took it to the pits again. My team once again fixed the car and we got back out there. We limped it till the break and kept it on the lead lap. During the break the team fixed the car up some more.
Once again, we restarted in 17th. Slowly but surely, we picked off cars one by one.
When it was all said and done, we finished P5.
I really didn’t expect to have such a big comeback after everything that could be thrown at us was, but the team and myself worked around it all and made it happen.
There’s not enough thanks I can give to the Nascimento Motorsports team. They worked so hard this weekend to keep me on the track.
And with that, the year is over. I’m going to miss all my crew guys. Hope to see them all again. Same with the fans and friends I made along the way. Hopefully I get to see you guys again.
