The Bare Bones Cashspiel is coming to Windy City Curling from October 1–4, 2026!

Designed for the recreational curler, this no-frills bonspiel is your chance to step into a competitive cash spiel environment without the pro-level pressure or extras. The best part? The prize purse grows with every team that signs up, so the more teams, the bigger the winnings.

WHEN: THURS October 1, 2026 - SUN October 4, 2026
FORMAT: Open - Any mix of genders/order **24 Team Maximum **
DRAWS: If the bonspiel fills to capacity, draws will begin late afternoon/early evening on Thursday, 10/1
COST: $500 per team

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED:

BOOZE: This is the Bare Bones Bonspiel, after all. Our bar will be open throughout the event, so you can purchase your favorite beverages and support the club one drink at a time.

FOOD: Feel free to bring your own food, order delivery, raid a drive-thru, or make friends with someone who packed snacks.

WHAT YOUR ENTRY FEE COVERS:
A cold sheet of ice, great curling, good company, and the privilege of saying, “Wait, that’s not included either?” But this is a cash spiel, so curl well enough and you might leave with the one thing we are including: a check with your name on it.

Likely to be lots of interesting content on Thursday. I know I’ve always wondered what the civil war would have been like if one side had Apache helicopters. It’s all for a good cause. Times displayed at in England.

Not long to go, kicking off at 1300 Sealand Summer Time, Mike will be starting talking on the Sealand discord server and not shutting up until 1300 the next day…

We tried to recruit a new member Luis Yin, to the ranks of Sealand but his loyalties are with his team they represent Chinese Taipei. That being said we had a great time curling with him and wish him well in his competitive endeavors.

The run came to an end. We ran into an excellent women’s team and they played a near flawless game. They are also from Wisconsin so I’m not sure we can beat them in the broomstack either; but we’ll give it a go.

We won a tightly contested matchup against the combat wombat Jedi ninja squad force from Aksarben Curling Club in Nebraska. What a great bunch of guys. We even found out one of them is a Sealander named Lord Smash.
