The BOLD Warriors softball team capped off a historic season Thursday afternoon at Caswell Park, defeating Red Lake Falls 10-1 in eight innings to earn a third-place finish in the Minnesota Class A State Softball Tournament.
For a program that just a few years ago was fighting for numbers and fielding teams through a co-op arrangement, the Warriorsโ third-place finish marks one of the greatest accomplishments in school softball history. BOLD battled its way through one of the toughest state tournament fields in Minnesota and finished the season with a state trophy, cementing its place among the stateโs elite.
Leading the way was sophomore pitcher Kaitlyn Flann, who turned in another dominant performance on the biggest stage. Flann struck out 13 batters while allowing just one run on six hits over eight innings. She consistently worked out of trouble and kept the Eagles off balance all afternoon.
The game was a pitcherโs duel through the first seven innings. Red Lake Falls broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning, but the Warriors answered in the fifth when Isabel OโNeill drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 1-1.
Neither team could gain an advantage over the next two innings before BOLD exploded for nine runs in the top of the eighth. The Warriors sent 15 batters to the plate in the inning and took advantage of timely hits, walks, and pressure on the bases.
Erika Martinson delivered two RBI singles during the rally, while Abbygale King added an RBI single. Kaitlyn Flann and Ema Flann were each hit by pitches with the bases loaded, forcing in runs. Piper OโNeill, Isabel OโNeill, and Kaelyn Elfering also drew RBI walks as the Warriors turned a tight game into a commanding victory.
BOLD finished with eight hits and eight walks on the afternoon. Martinson, King, and Flann each collected two hits. Martinson drove in two runs and scored once, while Isabel OโNeill reached base four times via walk and drove in two runs. Flann also stole two bases.
Defensively, the Warriors were solid behind their ace, committing just one error while helping Flann record 13 strikeouts and close out the victory.
The win finishes a remarkable season for the Warriors and secures a third-place finish at the state tournament. It is a fitting ending for a team that battled adversity, embraced every challenge, and continued to grow throughout the season. From rebuilding the program just a few years ago to standing on the state podium in 2026, the BOLD Warriors have created a season that players, coaches, and fans will never forget.
