🧗‍♀️ Ready to take your rappelling skills outdoors?

Join the WSU Outdoor Program for Canyoneering 101 on Oct. 5 from 4-7 p.m. at the 9th Street Crag!

If you’ve ever wanted to explore Southern Utah’s incredible canyons, this clinic is a great place to start. Learn the basics of canyoneering, including rappel systems, basic anchor systems, how to research canyons and understand canyon difficulty before you go.

Join the us for the rest of our Ogden Crag Series! Whether you’re new to climbing, ready to transition from the gym to outdoor climbing, or looking to connect with other climbers, there’s a trip for you.

📍 9th Street: Sept. 14 | 5-8 p.m.
📍 Ramp Routes: Sept. 21 | 3-8 p.m.
📍 29th Street: Sept. 28 | 3-8 p.m. | Intermediate climbers, featuring 5.9 and 5.10 routes

Registration is $15 for students.

It’s almost time to gear up! Our annual Outdoor Gear Sale & Swap is coming Oct. 23. 🎿🏕️

Score deep discounts on used rental gear and shop gear from other vendors. We’ll have snowboards, paddleboards, kayaks, and more up for grabs!

Trip Leader Spotlight: Penelope Porter ✨

Meet Penelope! 👋 Penelope is a Sophomore who joined the WSU Outdoor Program just a few months ago.

After attending Experience Weber and other Outdoor Program trips, Penelope was inspired to spend more time outdoors. With some encouragement from fellow trip leader Crystal, who helped teach her how to snowboard, Penelope decided to apply for a position at the Outdoor Program!

From paddleboarding and camping to snowboarding, rafting and hiking, Penelope loves finding new ways to get outside. 🏕️🏂🛶 Her favorite trip so far has been the Moab raft training, where she learned new skills and got to know more of her coworkers.

When she’s not outside, Penelope loves creating! She enjoys making jewelry, painting, crafting trinkets, traveling and even working on making music. 🎨🎶

One of her favorite parts about working for the Outdoor Program is the people. She loves spending time with her coworkers, whether they’re out on a trip or hanging out in the rental center. The job has also helped her step outside her comfort zone, build confidence and become more comfortable speaking to groups.

Are you going to be bored sitting at home all fall break? If that sounds like you, and you want to get out of the house, be sure to join us camping and mountain biking on our fall break trip to Moab!

Since our biking group will be sharing a campsite with the Fall Break Rock Climbing group, you’ll be sure to meet lots of new people and make friends!

The Ogden Crag Series is off, we will be climbing at 9th Street, Ramp Routes and 29th Street throughout the rest of September.

Come join us whether you're trying outdoor climbing for the first time, transitioning from the gym, or just looking for some time on the rock with other climbers.

Join us on the trails! We’d love for you to come mountain biking with us on a local day trip. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about biking fundamentals and make new friends!
