Thinking about signing up for your first ROX Race? Here’s how to have a great experience, perform your best, and actually enjoy the day.
1. Pace the First Run
The biggest rookie mistake is treating the first run like a 5K race. Start controlled. If you go out too fast, every station after that gets harder.
2. Don’t Skip the Fuel
Eat a normal meal 2–3 hours before the race and bring water. Showing up fueled beats showing up fasted. Bring some hydration with you.
3. Practice Transitions
Most people focus on running and workouts but forget about moving efficiently between stations. Stay calm, know where you’re going next, and keep moving.
4. Race Your Own Race
Someone will always be faster. Someone will always be slower. Focus on your effort, your pace, and your experience. The goal is to finish strong and to do your best.
5. Soak It In
High-five people. Take photos. Cheer for other athletes. Fitness races are about community as much as competition.
Bonus Tip: Don’t wait until you’re “fit enough.” Sign up first, then train for it. That’s how most people get started.
ROX Race is for everyone—from first-timers looking for a challenge to experienced athletes chasing a PR.
Registration is open at roxraceocala.com
Race is July 31st at 7pm!
