My name is John Guarnieri and I am the owner and head instructor at 603 Karate. Martial arts has been a passion of mine for much of my life. 603 Karate offers traditional Uechi Ryu Karate classes for children (ages 8-12), teens, and adults. Through consistent and dedicated Karate training, you will become a better version of yourself, in mind, body and spirit. What may seem like an insurmountable
hurdle now could become an exciting challenge to conquer after experiencing strength gained through your training. Uechi Ryu Karate follows the theory of being “half hard, half soft.” Not everything is based on superior strength, but more on superior technique. Superior technique is achieved through mastery of highly effective basics. Uechi Ryu is an Okinawan style of Karate founded by Master Kanbun Uechi (1877-1948). Uechi Ryu has remained true to its roots and follows the same curriculum today as that of Kanbun Uechi and his son, Kanei Uechi in Okinawa. Uechi Ryu is a highly effective martial art based on practical and proven self defense techniques. Uechi Ryu is not a flashy martial art with spinning kicks and high flying movements, but is an in-close style based on a strong stance, core, and mindset. People start martial arts training for all types of reasons: learning self defense, getting in better shape, exercise in a social environment, gaining better focus and self confidence. All of these benefits will be gained through consistent training at 603 Karate. I am focused and dedicated on helping each new student achieve their goals, then set new challenges to gain consistent growth in life, much like I have experienced. I have been a proud serving member of New Hampshire law enforcement for 8 years and my training in Uechi Ryu Karate has given me the confidence to succeed in many dangerous and intimidating situations.
603 Karate is a welcoming and positive family environment. In addition to regular Karate training, kids and teen classes will involve weekly “Mat Chats” focusing on self empowering topics and methods to bring lessons learned inside the dojo and out into their daily lives. I have seen the effectiveness of this in my own family with my daughter who has been studying Uechi Ryu since 2012. I have witnessed her take lessons learned inside the dojo, such as self confidence and self awareness, to deal with problems she has encountered very effectively. I credit much of her maturity and ability to deal with adversity in her life to her karate training. Classes at 603 Karate are offered at several different times during the week to make it as convenient as possible for you. So whether you work days or nights, you are a student or a stay at home parent, you will be able to find a program and classes that works for your schedule. Training in Uechi Ryu has improved my life in many ways, too many to mention. See what training in a fun, friendly, safe, supportive, and positive environment can do for you. Please contact 603 Karate for more information or any questions you may have. Ask for John, I’d be happy to help you! See you on the training floor!
