Northampton Community Rowing

Northampton Community Rowing Founded in 1998, Northampton Community Rowing, A.K.A. In 2015 Northampton Community Rowing relocated to the newly formed Connecticut River Greenway Park.

Hamp Crew, offers beginner, recreational, and competitive rowing programs year-round for adults and youth of the Pioneer Valley. Northampton Community Rowing began as “Hamp Crew” in 1997, when a small group of parents set out to create rowing opportunities for their high school aged children in the Pioneer Valley. Originally located at the Oxbow in a donated showroom owned by the Oxbow Marina, Ham

p Crew grew quickly into a vibrant program for both youth and adult rowers. In 2013, the organization began to work with the City of Northampton to develop a site off Damon Road on the north end of the city. The new 11 acre site on the west shore of the Connecticut River includes a public, shallow boat landing in a harbor dug in the 19th century to connect the river to a canal that once ran to downtown Northampton. In June of 2015, NCR completed construction of a new 3600 sf boat storage building. NCR is working with support from a State of Massachusetts PARC Grant and the Northampton Community Preservation Commission to provide canoe and kayaking programming by 2018.

We did it — and more! 🚣‍♀️💙💛

Thanks to the generosity of our amazing community, Row for the River 2025 was a HUGE success. Not only did we reach our $40,000 fundraising goal — we surpassed it by over $15,000. Our current total stands at an incredible $55,925.00! 🌊✨

This achievement would not have been possible without every single donor, rower, coxswain, and coach who took to the water, or without the amazing volunteers who supported us and brought the post‑row celebration to life.

Your generosity and energy have made a lasting impact — supporting clean water, expanded access to rowing and recreation on the Connecticut River, and a stronger, more sustainable fleet for our growing community.

From all of us at NCR: thank you!

Tomorrow’s the big day! 🚣‍♀️🌊

Row for the River 2025 is just hours away, and the excitement is building! Our rowers and coaches are ready to take on 10 scenic miles of the Connecticut River — and we’re so inspired by the incredible support from our community.

Thanks to you, we are now less than $7,000 away from our $40,000 goal! 💙💛 Every dollar raised fuels clean water, rowing access, and the fleet we need to keep growing.

There’s still time to make your impact before the boats launch — join us and help carry this momentum across the finish line:

Just 3 days to go until Row for the River 2025! 🚣‍♀️🌊

Thanks to the amazing response from our community, we’ve already raised over 80% of our $40,000 goal — and we couldn’t be more grateful. 💙💛

To every supporter, donor, rower, and coach: thank you! You are powering clean water, expanded access to rowing, and the growth of our fleet for years to come.

There’s still time to be part of this moment! Every gift helps push us closer to the finish line before our rowers take to the water on September 14th.
