Day 3 AM Session!

06/16/2026

Another great day of camp at the University of Delaware’s Fred Rust Arena! 🏒🔥

To finish the day, the players jumped into some cross-ice tennis hockey. It may have looked like a fun competition, but it also challenged athletes in ways that directly translate to the ice.

🎾 Hand-eye coordination
🎾 Tracking and reacting to moving objects
🎾 Spatial awareness
🎾 Quick thinking under pressure
🎾 Agility and edge work
🎾 Competitive instincts and teamwork

Small-area games like these create an environment where players can develop athletic skills, stay engaged, and compete while having a blast.

Awesome effort and energy from the group today. Looking forward to another big day tomorrow!

AM session kicks off day 2 of camp

06/15/2026

Day 1 of camp is in the books at the University of Delaware’s Fred Rust Arena! 🏒🔥

We wrapped up the day with cross-ice soccer games, and while the kids thought they were just having fun (they were!), they were also developing key hockey skills.

⚽ Edge work
⚽️ Balance
⚽️ The ability to pop up after getting knocked down
⚽ Quick decision-making
⚽ Stop-and-start transitions
⚽ Body positioning and awareness

The best development happens when athletes are engaged, competing, and having fun. Great energy from everyone on Day 1, and we’re just getting started!

Day 1 of summer camp is underway with our AM session!

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT 🎙️🏒

Are you caught in the “frenzy” of youth hockey development?

Last week on Sharpening Your Edge, Chuck and Erik sat down with one of the top skating minds in hockey, Lindsay Tilley, to break down some of the biggest misconceptions in player development — including why there are no “one-lesson fixes” when it comes to skating.

From her journey as a triple Gold Medal figure skater to becoming the Player Development Skating Coach for the Philadelphia Flyers organization, Lindsay shared an incredible perspective on coaching, development, and keeping the game FUN for young athletes.

We talked about:
🏒 Why every player develops differently
🏒 The importance of patience in skill development
🏒 How creativity keeps kids engaged (yes… balloons and hula hoops included 🎈)
🏒 The role parents play in the youth hockey journey
🏒 Avoiding burnout and building a lifelong love for the game
🏒 The continued growth of women’s hockey

Lindsay brings the perspective of an elite coach, educator, and hockey mom — making this a must-listen episode for players, parents, and coaches alike.

"Champions don't suddenly flip a switch when the game starts."

I recently came across a powerful reel from Montana Fouts that perfectly captures something I stress to every player who steps on the ice with CV3 Hockey Development.

You can't practice at 80% and expect to perform at 100% when the game is on the line. Your body, mind, and habits don't work that way. The effort, focus, and attention to detail you bring to every rep become your default setting when pressure rises.

That's why in every CV3 practice, lesson, clinic, camp, and skills session, we emphasize doing the little things the right way—every single time.

I often use a school analogy with my players:

"If you don't put effort into your classwork or homework, you can't expect your brain to suddenly be fully prepared when it's time to take the test."

Sports are no different.

Practice is your homework.
Games are your test.

The habits you build, the details you focus on, and the intensity you bring to practice will eventually show up when the puck drops. The players who consistently perform when it matters most are usually the ones who consistently prepare when nobody is watching.

While Montana is talking about softball, this message applies to every sport—and especially hockey. Success isn't about finding another gear when the spotlight is on. It's about making your standard so high that your best effort becomes second nature.

100% effort in practice leads to 100% confidence in games.

Montana is a professional pitcher for the Utah Talons and a member of the United States women's national softball team. A four-time All-American at the University of Alabama, she is widely recognized for throwing a perfect game against UCLA during the 2021 Women's College World Series.
