Apparently I had some thoughts today... πŸ˜‚

Motivation is great when it's there. But after almost 10 years of watching people come through Fit Physique, I've learned not to put too much stock in it. The people who stay consistent aren't fired up every day.

They have busy weeks. They miss workouts. They go on vacation. Life gets in the way. (Guiltyβœ‹)

The difference is they come back.

Eventually, taking care of yourself becomes less of something you have to get motivated to do... and more of something that's just part of your life. I think that's a much better goal than constantly trying to "get back on track."

We have a weird habit in fitness of making things "not count" unless they're hard.

Walking counts. Taking the stairs counts. Playing outside with your kids counts. A 10-minute walk after dinner counts.

You should still challenge yourself. You should still strength train. You should still work on your cardiovascular fitness. But don't underestimate the boring stuff you can do consistently for decades.

Health isn't only built during workouts.

And that's exactly the kind of stuff I'm trying to simplify with Fit Physique Weekly.

One useful health or fitness idea.
One realistic thing to do with it.
Once a week. Completely FREE.

πŸ† AUGUST TOP ATTENDEES πŸ†

Another month in the books and these guys made it to 10+ classes in August!

August can be a tough month to stay consistent. End of summer, vacations, getting kids ready for school, schedules all over the place…

The whole group had a really good month. You guys continue to push yourselves and each other and it shows.

September is here. Back into a little more of a normal routine. Let’s see how many names we can get on this list next month! πŸ‘Š

You don't have to love working out. You don't have to know what every machine does. You don't need a perfect workout plan. And... you definitely don't need to "get in shape" before joining a gym!

To be honest... most people just want a place where they can come in, move, get stronger, feel better and go home. Fit Physique was BUILT FOR normal people with normal lives.

Come in before work. Stop after dinner. Walk on the treadmill. Lift for 30 minutes. Do YOUR own thing!

We're open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you can make the gym fit around your life instead of the other way around.

If you've been thinking about joining but feel like you don't really know where to start, message me.

I'll help you figure it out. πŸ’ͺ

Long weekend?

You don't need to "undo" anything tomorrow. Just get back to your normal habits.

And here's ONE easy and MY favorite place to start...

Get some protein into your first meal.
Eggs. Greek yogurt. Cottage cheese. A protein shake.

Whatever works for you.
You don't need a CLEANSE.
You don't need to EARN your food.

Just get back to doing the little things you know are good for you.

Small habits. Big impact.

Ready, break! Go!

Sometimes knowing you SHOULD work out isn't the problem.
Actually getting yourself to do it is. πŸ˜‚

That's one of the reasons group training works so well for a lot of people.

There's a time to show up.
The workout is already planned.
There's a coach there to help you.
AND there are other people doing it right alongside you.

You don't have to walk into the gym wondering, "Okay... what am I supposed to do today?"

WE TAKE CARE OF THAT PART.

And if you're thinking..."I'd like to try it, but I'm probably not in good enough shape."

STOP.

You don't get in shape so you can start. You start so you can get in shape.

Different ages.
Different experience levels.
Different abilities.

WE MEET YOU WHERE YOU ARE AT!

If I only had about 3 hours per week to intentionally exercise, I'd keep it pretty simple:

2–3 strength sessions per week.

Get some cardio in β€” mostly easier aerobic work with some harder work mixed in.

Then walk and move as much as realistically possible outside of your workouts.

That's a pretty solid foundation.

Could we make it more "optimal"?

Of course.

But most adults aren't struggling because their program is 4% less optimal.

They're struggling to consistently fit exercise into work, kids, stress, hobbies, travel and everything else life throws at them.

So instead of asking:

"What's the perfect fitness routine?"

Ask:

"What's the best routine I can realistically keep doing?"

That's a much more useful question.

Save this one if you're trying to build fitness into your life instead of building your life around fitness.

I'M STARTING SOMETHING NEW.

And it's completely FREE.

There is WAY too much health and fitness information out there.

Eat this. Don't eat that. Take this supplement. Avoid that ingredient. Get 10,000 steps. Do more cardio. Lift weights. Sleep 8 hours. Track your calories...

You could spend all day trying to be "healthy." πŸ˜‚

I don't think most people need MORE health information.

I think we need a better filter for **what actually matters.**

I've owned Fit Physique for 12 years now, and I've spent those years working with normal, everyday people.

People with jobs. Kids. Stress. Busy schedules. Lives outside the gym.

Most aren't trying to become fitness influencers.

They just want to feel good, stay healthy, be strong and keep doing the things they love.

**That's who this is for.**

So I'm starting something I've wanted to do for a while:

**FIT PHYSIQUE WEEKLY**

Every Thursday I'll send one simple email with:

**ONE THING TO KNOW.**
Something useful about strength, nutrition, longevity, recovery, supplements or everyday health.

**ONE THING TO DO.**
One realistic thing you can actually put into practice that week.

That's it.

No fads.
No extremes.
No trying to make fitness your entire life.

**Simple, practical health and fitness for people who have a life outside fitness.**

It's completely FREE.

The very first one goes out this Thursday.

Strength training isn't just about building muscle or changing how you look. It's one of the best things you can do to stay capable as you get older.

More strength.
Stronger bones.
Better balance.
More muscle.
Better ability to handle everyday life.

And you don't need to live in the gym. For most people, **2–3 good strength workouts per week** is a pretty great place to start.

The goal isn't to become a bodybuilder. It's to make sure the things that feel easy at 35, 45 or 55 still feel easy later.

**Train for the life you want to keep living.** πŸ’ͺ

Save this one as your reminder this week.

5 things I wish more people knew about getting healthier:

1. Walking is ridiculously underrated.
You don't need every form of exercise to leave you exhausted. Walking more is one of the simplest ways to increase your daily activity, improve your fitness and support your health.

2. Strength training becomes MORE important as you get older β€” not less.
Maintaining muscle and strength helps you stay capable, active and independent as you age.

3. Protein matters, but don't forget about fiber.
Protein gets all the attention. But fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains and other high-fiber foods deserve a spot in the conversation too.

4. Sleep might be holding you back more than your workout program.
Training harder isn't always the answer. If you're constantly tired and under-recovered, adding more exercise isn't necessarily going to fix it.

5. You don't need to do all of this perfectly.
This might be the most important one.

A couple strength workouts.
More daily movement.
Mostly nutritious food.
Enough protein and fiber.
Better sleep.

Do those things pretty well for a long time and you're going to accomplish a lot more than constantly jumping from one extreme plan to another.

Health doesn't have to be complicated.

Sometimes we just make it that way. πŸ’ͺ
