3.1 miles. That’s the whole workout today. 🏃

Swipe to photo two. Those are some of our 8:30 ladies. The same crew that will (generally) tell you they aren’t fans of running. And there they are. Smiling. Done. Accomplished 💚

We don’t program a 5K to turn anyone into a runner. We do it because fitness runs on 3 energy systems, and the long aerobic one only shows up when an effort stretches past a few minutes. You can have a killer “Fran” time and ultimately still get humbled at mile 2 — so twice a year, we test it honestly.

And it’s worth testing. Your aerobic capacity is one of the #1 predictors of how long and how well you live. A 5K is just a free, no-equipment check-in on that.

Here’s the part we want to emphasize: every single person who shows up today scales it to fit them. Shorter distance, run-walk intervals, a pace that made sense for their body. Showing up and scaling smart beats sitting it out every time.

So no, you don’t have to love running. Or even want to be a “runner”. You just have to show up. It’s especially important on the mornings where it’d be easier not to.

The data backs up what we see every day. 📊

A UK survey looked at CrossFit participation and medication use across 1,200+ people. Of those on regular medication when they started:

→ 29% cut their usage by more than half
→ 25% eliminated it entirely

The kicker? The more consistently people trained, the bigger the drop. Frequency mattered.

We’re not making medical claims (always work with your doctor) but this puts numbers behind what we watch happen on our floor every day. The members with the most consistent routine see the biggest changes. And the thing that keeps them consistent? The people.

So take this with you:

1️⃣ Build a routine that’s repeatable for YOU
2️⃣ Get connected with people chasing similar goals
3️⃣ Do it as often as you can

It just might change your life.

The best summer memories aren’t the ones you watch from the porch. They’re the ones where you’re in it. You’re the first one in the water, last one off the trail, still going when the kids are…

But summer doesn’t pause the to-do list either. Work, life, all of it keeps moving.

A few sessions in the gym a week is what makes the difference between dragging through summer and actually keeping pace with it. You’re not training to skip the fun. You’re training so you’ve got the gas to enjoy every bit of it.

Who’s making sure to get theirs in this week?

Can you say that you regularly do hard things? If not, you might be less ready for when life decides to test you.

Connor has said he didn’t walk into CrossFit looking for a change. He was just supervising kids at a summer camp when a string of fortunate events led him through the doors of a gym.

But something shifted. The workouts were uncomfortable and humbling. The people were encouraging. And slowly he started to believe he could do hard things again.

And now it’s lead to what he believes, and what he’s created as a core belief in our gym. What all of our coaches and members learn and practice: every time you do something hard, you get a little more capable of handling the hard things life throws at you without warning. That’s not motivation speak. That’s just how it works.

In the last month, three CFW members have told us they’ve made meaningful breakthroughs — in and out of the gym — that trace back to showing up consistently and doing hard things. That’s not a coincidence.

If you want help building that into your life, we’re here for it.
