When someone is excited for us to share their story, we’re more than happy to. Welcome Juan David to Fortitude!

Juan David is jumping into his first Krav Maga class this Wednesday at 6:00 PM, and he’s coming in ready to learn!

A few fun things about Juan:

🌎 He speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish — and is currently working on French and German 🤯
🏨 He’s studying hospitality and works at a local hotel
🥋 He trained in Taekwondo as a kid and has always wanted to dive deeper into practical self-defense
📚 He’s currently in the U.S. for work and school and plans to be here for at least the next year

Juan is excited about Krav Maga not only for the self-defense and personal safety skills, but also for the confidence and community that come with training. He was so excited about getting started that he signed up right away on the spot!

If you see Juan Wednesday night, make sure you introduce yourself, help him feel at home, and welcome him to the Fortitude community.

One of our values as a Fortitude team is “we lead by example”. For the better part of 8 years now, we’ve made “THE MURPH” part of our Memorial Day tradition. It has become a celebration of our community, what our bodies are able to accomplish, and the willingness to show up and do our absolute best. 🇺🇸

"Bad things happen when you hit the ground." - yes.

In our training, we consider many different variables - including how to safely get out of dangerous situations on the ground.

As discussed in this episode of Krav Maga Worldwide's podcast...training sport tactics will give us incredibly valuable skills. There are so many crossovers and related techniques between various forms of training - ask any experienced practitioner.

It's important to remember that on the street, there are no rules. If someone means to cause you or your loved ones harm, they will not wait for you to tap or make it a "fair" fight.

We're excited to offer our upcoming Women's Self Defense Saturday - where we will specifically address some of the most common threats that women face, noted in various levels of our system.

The beauty of Krav Maga is that it is instinct-based and designed for anyone to learn. It is a LIFE skill - similar to swimming. If we can't swim, we avoid water - but the truth is, we cannot avoid a world where personal protection isn't valuable.

Some nights remind you what this community is really about.

This week, Chief Instructor Jon Pascal is in Wisconsin teaching a law enforcement course, and we had the chance to bring him over to Impact Martial Arts for a pop-up Krav Maga training with local students.

Jon has been part of Krav Maga Worldwide for more than 40 years. The knowledge he carries is incredible, but what stands out even more is how much he genuinely loves teaching and seeing people grow.

We worked combatives, 360 defenses, edged weapon defenses, and stress drills, including stacking against multiple attackers.

Different schools, different instructors, different students…

One community.

At the end of the night, .ellenbecker reminded everyone that we’re all part of the same family in Krav Maga, and that it’s important we get together and train.
