“Just a note to say again how grateful we at the VA are to you, your staff, and of course the horses for One Step Closer, your equine therapy program. For veterans like ours, who have serious mental illness, the time they spend at OSC is probably the most effective therapy they ever get. There is nothing like being entrusted by the horses and your supportive staff to lead the horses, to brush them, and just to spend an hour in their company--and in such a beautiful setting. It is probably one of the few times these veterans ever have the experience of having responsibility for another, an experience that takes them out of their own heads and puts them in welcome contact with glorious reality. They are so invigorated and reaffirmed as full human beings, and they have so much fun. Thanks again for OSC!”

Our little Miss Abby was hauled down to Steinbeck Equine Hospital for some tooth extractions this morning. She has a condition called EOTRH. Dr. Carlson is a specialist in this area. She was a perfect patient and is now home on Antibiotics and pain medication for a week or so.
This is what horse sponsorship looks like.
These unexpected surgeries and medications are very costly to our non-profit.
