✨ AUGUST MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: DOLORES MERCADO ✨

This month, we’re so happy to celebrate Dolores—also lovingly known as DM. Her warmth, joy, and longtime connection to yoga are such a beautiful part of our MHYC community. We’re honored to share her story in her own words:

“Hi my Yoga Family.

I’m so grateful for the wonderful community that we have here at MHYC. My love for yoga started 17 years ago. My 1st love was Bikram Yoga. Then COVID happened and the world came to a standstill. That’s when I found Vinyasa. It gave me the sanity to be able to handle all the uncertainty we were all going through.

So when Jen called to say she and Paula were opening a studio, I jumped for joy and signed up to be a member ASAP. This place has become MY HAPPY PLACE.

I’ve been a flight attendant for 29 years. I love my job. I love to travel and explore the world, but I always look forward to being home and coming to class to decompress, to laugh, and to feel the love and support this community gives us.

Thank you Jen and Paula for building this wonderful community, and thank you to all the teachers for sharing all their knowledge and experience. Love you and look forward to seeing you in the next class!

People often think yoga is about becoming more flexible.

And while you might touch your toes one day… that’s never really been the point.

Yoga teaches us how to slow down in a world that constantly asks us to speed up. It reminds us to breathe through discomfort instead of running from it. It helps us build strength, not just in our bodies, but in our hearts and minds. It teaches us to be present, to be patient, and to meet ourselves with a little more compassion.

Some people come to yoga for the workout.
Some come to quiet their minds.
Some come looking for healing, connection, or simply an hour to themselves.

No matter what brings you to your mat, you’ll often leave with something you weren’t expecting.

Maybe that’s why we keep coming back.

Not because yoga changes how we look…
but because it changes how we move through life.
