How it started VS how it ended. Weather can change in a short period of time here in the mountains. Small storm cells can pop up in the afternoons. Make sure you are prepared! Although… idk how you prepare for this. 😂😬

We are in the full swing of things here at the start of our 2026 season. Lots of mornings like this in our future. It’s busy for us getting everything ready for the day, so we always like to take a minute before our customers arrive to enjoy the peacefulness this river provides. We may have to start burning sage and doing rain dances by the river if we don’t receive some significant precipitation soon!

Another father/son trip! These have become some of our favorites. They are heading out to Montana this summer and thought they would like to be able to catch some trout on the fly while they were there. Neither had ever had a fly rod in their hands and they did pretty darn good! Lots of hookups and many fish in the boat is a huge success for first timers. I’m sure they will be able to get on some fish out west 🤘🏽

The Pendleton County Chamber of Commerce is excited to officially announce the full schedule for WV Trout Fest 2026, taking place May 1–2 in Franklin, West Virginia!

WV Trout Fest is a long-standing, free, family-friendly festival celebrating trout fishing, outdoor recreation, and Appalachian culture. This year’s event is shaping up to be one of our best yet, with a full weekend of activities for all ages.

🎣 Trout Rodeo – Saturday morning
🎤 Live Music All Weekend – featuring regional favorites and headliner Soda Pop Gypsies
🍽 Trout Dinner – a local favorite you won’t want to miss
🛍 Vendors & Community Activities – throughout the weekend

GOOOOOOLD RUUUUUUUSH!!!! Hahaha. We weren’t hating on the stocked palomino trout. They are pretty cool. However, it should be noted that they aren’t “Golden Trout”. The real golden trout resides in its native home in the high-altitude streams and lakes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The fish you see here is a mutated strain of rainbow trout. Still a very cool fish! They can be finicky eaters. We can help 😉
