Most people think they healed their childhood wounds , They didn't. They built a monster around them, and that monster is probably running their life right now. Most of us don't become who we truly are, We become who we needed to be to survive. The neglected child becomes addicted to attention, The rejected child, becomes a people pleaser, The abandoned child, learns to leave before anyone can leave them, The criticized child becomes obsessed with perfection, The betrayed child trust no one. These aren't personality traits these are survival strategies, a monster carefully built to make sure the original wound is never felt again, and here is the tragedy, what protected you as a child can quietly imprison you as an adult, the attention you crave is never feels enough, The perfection is never perfect enough,the control is complete enough, because the monster can protect the wound but it can never heal it. Every time the monster takes over, the child gets hidden a little deeper, your coping mechanism were never your identity, they were emergency exits. Healing begins the moment you stop feeding the monster and finally start listening to the child it was built to protect.
