Over twenty-five years ago I booked a bear hunt with Bigelow Mountain Guide Service, having much success through the early years of hunting there. It was run by a Legendary Master Maine Guide at the time. Becoming good friends with him, he taught me everything he knew about Bear hunting. After a few years following him around the beautiful Western Mountains o

f Maine, he pushed me to get my Guides License. After receiving my License over 15 years ago, I worked for him as a Bear Guide always watching and learning from him. Back in 2002, when age and poor health slowed him down to the point where he could no longer walk in the woods, he turned the Guide Service over to me. I have been running it ever since. I still bring my old friend to Bear Camp every year and his stories of hunts long ago always entertain the hunters in camp. I am proud to keep Bigelow Mountain Guide Service’s legacy alive.

Second time out with the decoy and still pretty slow. Last weekend no Tom’s sounded off, this morning three sounded off but quite a ways out. Have had two hens come in so far, but no Tom’s. But what a beautiful day to be out. Another hour and a half to go. Still could happen 🦃
