🧠 Thoughtful Thursday — Fortitude 🧠
The other day, I spoke with Mr. Jim Finucan he was working with his grandson, and one word kept coming up:
Fortitude.
Fortitude is the strength to keep going when things get difficult. It's finishing what you started, even when you're tired, uncomfortable, or facing a challenge.
In basketball, it might be finishing the game when you're exhausted.
In karate, it might be completing a tough sparring match, pushing through one more round of drills, or getting back up after a setback.
Fortitude isn't about never struggling. It's about refusing to quit because of the struggle.
We all use fortitude in our daily lives—at school, at work, at home, and on the mat.
What are some ways you show fortitude in your everyday life? 🥋💪

🧠 Thoughtful Thursday 🧠
The other day, I spoke to our students about accountability and taking responsibility for your actions.
I’m a tough instructor, not because I expect perfection, but because I hold myself accountable first.
Every person who walks through our doors and chooses to train with me is placing their trust in me. I have a responsibility to give them the best martial arts instruction and guidance that I can.
That responsibility doesn't end when class is over. It means constantly learning, improving, and leading by example.
Accountability isn't about blaming others when things go wrong. It's about looking in the mirror and asking, "What could I have done better?"
That's a lesson that applies not only to martial arts, but to life.
🥋 Be accountable. 🥋 Be responsible. 🥋 Be the example.

🔥 Hello Moto 🔥
The weather is finally getting nice, and remember — the dojo isn’t the only place you can train.
The world is your dojo.
With parent permission, go play at the park.
Climb, run, jump, and enjoy the playground.
Getting stronger, faster, and more athletic can happen anywhere when you stay active and creative.
Summer is the perfect time to move, explore, and challenge yourself. ☀️🥋💪
What are some of your favorite ways to stay active during the summer?

🧠 Thoughtful Thursday🧠
The other day, I was talking with our upper belts about plateaus and the difference between general practice and specific practice.
We all have something we don’t like training…
Usually, because we’re not good at it yet.
Kicks, forms, sparring it’s different for everyone.
That’s exactly where the growth is.
It’s easy to practice what you’re good at.
It’s harder and more important to dig into what you struggle with.
When I train at home, I double my left leg kicks. Not because I enjoy them… but because I need them.
Progress comes when you face your weaknesses, not avoid them. 🥋
