Did you know that today is World Oceans Day?! While we can't celebrate that as much in the midwest, we can celebrate our little freshwater mini ocean, otherwise known as Lake Michigan! Consider making it a goal this month to go to the lakefront in time for a sunrise and get a walk in on the beach, in the sand. The fresh air will be energizing, the Vitamin D will help the body, and walking on sand is a great way to add some variety to your normal walking routine!

On Monday we heard about all of the reasons why we should get outside as much as possible, but that is becoming harder and harder these days with work demands, kids sports and activites demands, etc. It might be helpful toset nature exposure goals like scheduling 1 activity per weekend that involves being outdoors! Some ideas include: finding a river to rent kayaks and explore, find a free (or paid) outdoor concert to attend, look for local fesitvals to attend, or find some outdoor yoga to try! Tips and tricks to not get into a mental rut while working out. Doing the same workout over again (while progressivly overloading) is the best way to see results, but can be very tedious and can get boring. To avoid this do your workout backwards. No, do not try and walk backwards during your workout but start with the thing that you typically end with and work backward from there. It is a simple thing to do. Another great alternative than just doing workouts with dumbbells is using resistance bands. The link takes you to some work out variations that use a band!!!
