Falling is part of learning to skate—but falling safely is a skill.

In rhythm skating, we typically don’t wear protective pads, so the goal is to turn your body and land on one side of your rear rather than straight back. You can use the hand on the same side to help guide the fall, but most of your weight should be absorbed by your rear—not your wrists.

The good news? You actually get better at falling the more you fall. Learning how to fall properly builds confidence and helps you get right back up. 🧡🛼

FRONT TO BACK TRANSITIONS 🛼 Learning to turn around on skates? It all starts with mastering transitions! ✨

In this clip, my Tuesday Night Beginner Class is learning the process by breaking the transition down into four simple steps:

1. Lunging to set the forward travel.
2. Opening into an eagle spread.
3. Curving the lead heel around to begin traveling backward.
4. Turning the second heel to complete the transition.

Every student in this video is learning this skill for the first time, so please be kind and encourage their progress.
