“Exercise is like putting money in your retirement account...”

Sweat equity is the ultimate ROI. Amy shows up every week to make her deposits and the results speak for themselves

Training one-on-one with me and hitting group classes she's building a bulletproof foundation of full body strength, dialed-in cardio and core stability

It’s about hitting every major muscle group, mastering posture and building the physical capability to kick ass in the real world

The physical and mental returns of moving like a human and lifting weights properly will always outpace a quick fix

You just have to do the work

He knew what he needed to do and he’s been cookin!

Our sessions cover strength training, intervals and core. He puts in the miles on his own and handles his nutrition like a boss

You’re seeing all of that work come together

I’ve been through my own transformation and kept the weight off. I know what it means to rebuild your body and feel athletic again. That experience is a big part of what I bring to coaching

Proud of this man and the commitment he’s made to himself

Proud to be part of his journey

Halcyon Method

Rebuild your body. Feel athletic again

Session three with Coach Mike: shoulders and arms, with extra attention to mobility, positioning and control

Watch the details: rear delt rope pulls, shoulders stacked over hips during overhead carries, controlled kettlebell external rotations and supine shoulder work using gravity to help the shoulders settle back

Did you catch all that?

A little curl detail, too: keep the upper arms steady through most of the rep, then allow a small, controlled elbow lift at the top

The biceps crosses both the elbow and shoulder, so that added shoulder flexion shortens it further

Squeeze, then lower with control

Next up: Mike’s third turn coaching me

Day two with Coach Mike. Footwork, the jab and putting the pieces together

I coach his strength. He coaches my boxing. Small adjustments, more practice, and plenty to learn.

Build strength. Move freely. Keep doing what you love

A practice for life

Round two of the coach trade off: Mike’s hypertrophy leg day

Mike's baseline conditioning is already elite, but building dense mass on a combat athlete requires a specific approach

To force growth without wrecking his joints, our primary weapon is pre-exhaustion

After warming up with glute bridges and sled drags, we isolated the tissue with leg extensions, hamstring curls and calf raises

By the time we hit the leg press, the target muscles are deeply fatigued

This lets us safely push to mechanical failure on a controlled drop set without needing a massive, risky amount of weight

We tied it all together with core stability ball passes and planks to maintain his combat readiness

But training is only half the equation when a high output athlete wants to add serious size

The recovery protocol is non negotiable

A protein and fast carb shake immediately off the floor, followed by a dense, protein heavy, whole food meal later to drive the caloric surplus

Control the variables, feed the machine and watch the tissue adapt

Change the conditions - change the outcome

Here’s the secret

I had coffee this morning

Trained a client at 8 am

Had an energy drink at the gym

Trained another client at 2

Got my own workout in

No real meal yet

At 5 o’clock, I’m starving and this plate of food disappeared

Full sugar Coke included

Boxing class tonight

Real dinner after that... maybe

Maybe a protein shake at some point

You can call it intermittent fasting if you want. You can make it strict. You can track the window

Or you can just use common sense

I like big meals. I like feeling full. So I build my day around activity, hydration, protein and meals I actually want to eat

But here’s the money

When you get near the end of a meal, pay attention

There’s a point where the food stops being absolutely incredible and starts becoming something you’re just finishing because it’s there

That’s the line

Every bite after that loses value

And if the counter is, “Well, I’ll just keep eating then,” no

If you actually enjoy food, you won’t

Because at that point, the experience is getting worse

You’re not enjoying it more. You’re just continuing

So stop when it stops being amazing

Seal it up

Wait until you’re truly hungry again

When you’re full, you’re full

That’s how you stay lean & content

Follow for more common sense fat loss

Veteran boxing coach Mike took me to school on footwork and the jab

Next, we step into my office

Mike is already a beast in the weight room, but putting dense tissue on a high output combat athlete requires a completely different science

His daily life is constant movement, cardio and systemic stress

You can't just ‘hit the weights’ - you need precise mechanics and specific programming to force the tissue to adapt without burning out his nervous system

Today, we dialed in the exact shoulder positioning for a stable bench press and used drop sets to take the last to complete mechanical failure

Mike is on a chest & back, shoulders & arms + legs - split

Add his high output lifestyle

The Spiral Press follows a natural path overhead

The dumbbells rotate as they travel up
similar to the spiral force you see in a punch

That freedom lets the shoulder find a cleaner path
instead of being locked into a rigid press
