Anyone interested in a 220 mile, 22,000 foot route for the Lost River Classic? I still have my eyes set on a section of private road that will open up the famed Peru climb, but I don't know if I can unlock it this year. This route highlights the Hardy County greatest hits, including Judge Rye, Helmick Rock, and Squirrel Gap, but also the incredibly underrated Nathaniel Mountain Wildlife Management Area. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/56465776

Wow! After yesterday's registration surge, we are going to have to up our T-shirt order from Monday! We are ahead of last year's pace two weeks from race day. Will we land north of 200? The Lost River Classic has grown every year, from 90 in 2022 to 197 last year. Don't on August's biggest gravel events in the region!

Huge shout out to the Raw Talent Ranch / Lost River Barn, without whom this event wouldn't be possible. Long a fixture of Hardy County cycling, the barn serves as the final aid station on South Branch Mountain before the long descent to the finish line. The Lost River Classic gravel race is coming up in Mathias, WV on August 15, just two hours from the DMV! One of the biggest gravel events in the mid-Atlantic in August, three course lengths offers something for everyone. There's $500/3 cash purse for the men's, women's and nonbinary open, a post-ride chicken BBQ complete with a local farmer's market and live bluegrass/roots music. All proceeds benefit the local youth mountain bike team and mountain bike trail development. The Lost River Classic bike race is a month away, which is the largest annual fundraiser for the Lost River Trails Coalition, with half of the proceeds split between trail building and the youth mountain bike team, plus an addition $1500 donated the the Mathias Community Center, and this year, $500 donated to the EHHS middle school wrestling team. An event like this isn't possible without the support of local businesses and the local community. Please consider volunteering on August 14 or 15 to make this a successful event!
