We're excited to share some fantastic news about future ISDRA Annual Meetings and Awards Ceremonies!

After receiving **two outstanding proposals** and giving each careful consideration, the ISDRA Board of Directors is pleased to announce that **both proposals have been accepted!**

📍 **2027 ISDRA Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony**
🗓️ June 11–13, 2027
Hosted by the **Pennsylvania Sled Dog Club** at **Knoebels Amusement Resort** in Elysburg, Pennsylvania.

📍 **2028 ISDRA Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony**
June 10-11, 2028
Hosted by the **Wisconsin Trailblazers** in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

We couldn't be more excited to have two incredible conventions already on the calendar! Having these events planned well in advance will give members plenty of time to make travel plans, and we're looking forward to seeing record attendance.

Both conventions promise to feature outstanding guest speakers, opportunities for vendors, engaging educational sessions, and plenty of fun and fellowship with the sled dog racing community.

Planning for the future is already underway! We will begin accepting proposals for the **2029 ISDRA Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony** next spring.

Be sure to follow the **Pennsylvania Sled Dog Club** page for future announcements and updates as planning begins for the 2027 Convention. We can't wait to see everyone there!

🐾 ISDRA IS SEEKING A REGIONAL DIRECTOR FOR REGION XIV (SOUTHERN REGION)! 🐾
The International Sled Dog Racing Association (ISDRA) is looking for a passionate volunteer to serve as Regional Director for our newest region — Region XIV, covering Alabama, DC, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee!
This is a fantastic opportunity to be the voice of sled dog sports in the South, help grow our community, and serve on a Board that works together with respect, professionalism, and a shared love of the sport.
🐕 WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES
COMMUNICATE: ✅ Work directly with the Executive Director and fellow Board members ✅ Connect with clubs and members throughout your region ✅ Represent ISDRA to the public, potential members, sponsors, race organizations, and the broader sled dog community
RESPONSIBLE FOR: ✅ Promoting sled dog activities and the well-being of ISDRA, consistent with our policies and procedures ✅ Keeping the Executive Director and Board informed of regional activities and issues ✅ Serving on the Board consistent with the obligations and duties of a nonprofit corporate director
SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES: ✅ Attend ISDRA annual meetings ✅ Attend meetings of other race organizations in your region when possible ✅ Promote ISDRA

We're looking for someone who is: 🐾 Passionate about sled dog sports 🐾 Excellent with people, and ready to be the voice of Region XIV 🐾 Committed to growing and supporting membership throughout the region 🐾 A respectful, professional communicator — someone who can engage in healthy debate and differing opinions without slipping into angry conflict 🐾 Able to keep confidentiality 🐾 Enthusiastic and positive about ISDRA and its mission 🐾 Free of conflicts of interest (if you serve on another Board, there can be no conflicting obligations)
Our Board works well together because we genuinely respect one another — and we're looking for someone who will fit right into that culture while championing our southern mushing community.

🎉 BIG NEWS FROM ISDRA: WE'RE GROWING! 🎉

At our Annual Membership Meeting, the ISDRA Board of Directors and members in attendance voted to approve a constitutional amendment creating a brand-new region — **Region XIV, the Southern Region**! 🐾

This split has been a long time coming, and it's a direct result of the incredible growth we've seen in mushing and canicross across the South — more members, more clubs, and more sanctioned races than ever before. This region simply earned its own seat at the table, and we couldn't be more excited to see where it goes from here.

**Here's what's changing:**

📍 **Region V** is now the **Mid-Atlantic Region**: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania

📍 **Region VI** remains the **Mideast Region**, now covering: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio

📍 **NEW! Region XIV** is the **Southern Region**: Alabama, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee

**🗳️ Elections are now open for Region XIV's first-ever Regional Director!**

If you're a member in one of these states and want to help shape the future of this brand-new region, we want to hear from you.

📝 Candidate nominations and statements are due **August 18th**
🗳️ Elections will be held **September 18th**

This is a huge moment for ISDRA and for the sport in the South. Thank you to every driver, volunteer, and club that helped make this growth possible — this region is yours!

Dear ISDRA Members,

In light of some extremely sad and disheartening news about neglect within the sled dog community, we want to remind all mushers that ISDRA takes a firm stance on animal abuse and neglect. We also want to remind mushers we are indeed a community. If something happens and you find yourself in a situation where purchasing food or care for your dogs is a hardship, please reach out to another musher, your local mushing club, or your ISDRA Regional or At-Large Director, who can help you find resources in your area. We want to ensure that our canine athletes are cared for in the best manner. We want to help our community. We all must do our best to aid in the care, feeding, and placement — if needed — of dogs in an environment that has found itself less than optimal. Our canine companions are our hearts; for that reason, one of ISDRA's main goals is to protect them from abuse and neglect. Please reach out if you find yourself or another musher in need so we can assist in finding resources that can offer help. We are not in this alone. Let's work as a community to eliminate bad situations from ever happening.
