I’m on my soapbox today, so if you don’t want to read this, I apologize in advance. This is something that has been on my heart for a long time, and I finally found the words to say it.
Wow, what a community we have in RD.
We recently attended the Virginia Barrel Classic, and throughout the weekend, I felt the Lord speaking to me so clearly. The past month has been a little slower for business, and if I’m being honest, I was feeling discouraged. I can get so caught up in the numbers, sales, growth goals, and all of the things that come along with running a business that I sometimes lose sight of the bigger picture and everything God has already built through this company.
This weekend, God sat me down and reminded me exactly what Rocket Donkey is really about.
I saw people talking who may have never met if it weren’t for RD. I saw people giving advice, lending a helping hand, cheering each other on, and comforting one another when things didn’t go their way. I saw friendships that started because of a shared love for this brand. I saw people who were genuinely excited to see one another, and so many of those relationships existed because at some point, Rocket Donkey brought them together.
It absolutely warmed my heart.
The fact that my little company could be present not only physically that weekend, but also serve as the foundation for so many friendships and relationships, is something I will never take for granted.
The truth is, Rocket Donkey has never just been a store to me. It has never been just shirts, jackets, hats, or products. To me, RD has always been about people. It’s about the memories made at horse shows, the friendships formed in warm-up pens, the conversations had in parking lots, and the community that surrounds all of us. The products are simply the vehicle that brought us together.
When I started Rocket Donkey, I never could have imagined the places it would take me or the people it would introduce me to. Some of my closest friendships and greatest opportunities have come because of this little company. Watching that same thing happen for so many others this weekend was incredibly special.
We may never be a massive corporation, and honestly, I’m perfectly okay with that. I’m not chasing being the biggest. If we can continue to create a place where people feel welcomed, encouraged, supported, and connected, then I would consider that a success every single time.
To every single person who has supported Rocket Donkey, whether you've purchased something, shared a post, worn our products, attended a photoshoot, joined our ambassador program, or simply cheered us on from the sidelines, thank you. You have helped create something that is so much bigger than a clothing brand.
I am beyond blessed by this community and the relationships that have come from it. God has been faithful every step of the way, and this weekend was a beautiful reminder that sometimes the things we're building can't be measured by numbers alone.
God is so good.
