One of my favorite segments in our session comes after our skill enhancement portion, when we introduce a theme or action of the day.

Developing individual skills is important, but teaching players how to understand spacing, create advantages, and recognize WHY an action works is equally as important to us.

This action: Ghost Ball Screens

Ghost Screens are becoming more and more common at every level as teams continue to switch multiple positions defensively. Creating confusion for the on-ball defender is crucial, and the angle taken by the screener can make all the difference.

Every position on the floor can utilize this action, which is a big reason why we’re seeing it used more and more.

The spacing determines the read:
Empty side → pop to space
Single-shooter side → slip to rim

Enhance the skill. Understand the game. Apply it live. 💯

We’re grateful every day for the opportunity to pour into this community and the players we get to work with.

Growing up as a small-town kid in this area, it was always a dream to build something like this bringing a culture and level of development that players can be proud to be a part of. The 8-year-old in me writing down my workout plans for the day is truly living out a dream. ❤️🙌

We teach dribble step timing at every level of our training.

Mastering this at a young age gives players the foundation to add counters, pickups, and finishes as their skillset develops.

Here we worked out of our in & out dribble step timing, starting with “Dribble 0” — ball and foot hitting at the same time — and building into two finishes:
- Euro Finish
- Veer Finish

Once the footwork was mastered, we added an audio cue so players had to react to the number called and execute the correct finish.

Audio cues are a great way for coaches AND parents to create game-like, reactive reps without needing a live defender.

Learn the footwork ➡️ master it ➡️ add the cue.
