"...As a professional travel writer, living near a big city with millions of people, I often find myself instinctively baited back west like the same insatiable trout getting hooked again and again. I am drawn to dark skies, river rocks, and the smell of pines, cedars, spruces, and firs. I’m a ravenous awe seeker, a frolicker.

Recently I borrowed a handmade inflatable Alpacka Raft for an overnight packrafting adventure on the Ruby Horsethief section of the Colorado River. I paddled 25 miles from the Loma Boat Launch State Wildlife Area to the Westwater Ranger Station.
