10/10/2026
Dear Main Line Armory Customers,
Today, October 9, 2026, the Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi***rms and Explosives (ATF) announced a significant change in how it will enforce certain provisions of the National Fi***rms Act (NFA).
ATF Director Rob Cekada confirmed that the agency will no longer enforce certain federal registration, approval, and transfer requirements for:
• Fi***rm suppressors (silencers)
• Short-barreled ri**es (SBRs)
• Short-barreled sh****ns (SBSs)
• Certain fi***rms classified as Any Other Weapons (AOWs)
But there's an important distinction:
THE NFA HAS NOT BEEN REPEALED.
The ATF is changing its federal enforcement policy—not eliminating the law itself.
WHAT ABOUT PENNSYLVANIA?
Pennsylvania still has its own laws governing certain NFA fi***rms under 18 Pa.C.S. § 908. The federal announcement does not override those laws, and important questions remain about how Pennsylvania will apply them.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN AT MAIN LINE ARMORY?
For now, we will continue following established NFA paperwork and transfer procedures while awaiting further clarification regarding Pennsylvania law.
We're following these developments closely and will keep our customers updated.
