This my home and hunting place where I also teach the needed NRA Basic Pistol Course needed to obtain your Ohio Conceal Carry Permit. I have over 40 years of handling and shooting a lot of different firearms. I do 1 day classes mostly and private classes for 10 people or more. Fee is $105 total ($100 class & $5 range fee), the class is held at Geneva Rod & Gun Club wich is only 2 miles from my home listed, very soon the class will be at my home after I install a shooting range. All the deer on the property are wild deer and not fenced in any way, free range is all I hunt and all the bucks pictured are free range kills and Ohio bucks from my area.

Jack put a shot on this 6 point yesterday evening, his Dad Bob called me and I recommended to wait until the morning. I showed up at 7am and flew by the area of last blood with no luck, so I started doing a grid search and finally found him over 2,000 ft away, but he was still alive, I could tell his end was near so I came back a couple hours later and he had expired. Put the GPS pin on him and we went and found him. Landowner where it died was nice enough to drive his SxS back and it made for easy work getting him out.
Congratulations Jack on your 1st deer and it happens to be a Dandy Buck!

Butchered up the big doe I killed on Sunday this morning and I thought while I'm cutting her up let's toss the catfish jugs in the pond. Well it took seconds for the 1st jug to get hit and about 5 minutes for the 2nd one. Brought them in and tossed it back in and about 20 minutes it got hit.
Pretty good batch of deer and catfish going in the freezer, I cut steaks, backstraps, roasts, lot's of chunks for burger later and I also put 3 bags for jerky to made later.

Gonna make a monster pot of Bambi Chili tomorrow morning, with a kick to it! Putting hot italian sausage and bacon in to sweeten the deal.

The 2 photos are the soybeans I planted and they are 30 days apart.
Just goes to show you how much damage the deer can do in a farmer's field.
My plot is just under an acre but in that short time the deer, squirrels,raccoons and turkey really did some damage.

Had an interesting deer recovery last night, 2 coyotes were also looking for the deer. I found them searching a horse pasture and even walked up to a bedded horse and a buck behind the horse. At first when I seen the heat signature from the horse I thought "We're gonna need a bigger boat", then it stood up and I could see the outline of it 🤣
I used the coyotes for a while watching where they were going and sure enough while they were looking I spotted the deer in the thick low brushy trees, I lowered the drone and put the light on and it spooked them off.
I pinned the location and the deer was found 10 feet from the pin 📌
It was only 150 yards away from me and the jet sled made a lot of noise going to retrieve it and the coyotes never came back.
You can see in the video how thick the leaves are and looking for just a whole deer just doesn't work, knowing what to look for is why you hire a drone service, drone pilots know that they will have to go back and forth to get different angles to see better, I actually flew over it and when I came from a different route it stood out.

With Northeast Ohio having its first cold front coming in the next couple of days, whitetail deer will be moving more through the day to feed and getting close to the Pre-Rut and the younger bucks will be traveling more. Great time to be in the woods for an opportunity to get your deer early in the season.
If you make a shot and lose the blood trail or just need help recovering your deer give me a call.

In my favorite psychologist office today, love this tree to sit in. Lot's of great memories made here, including killing 2 record book bucks back to back years and first one was a Boone and Crockett!
I've watched 100's of deer from here over the years, even watched 3 different sets of bucks sparring at the same time.
Tonight I will look at the inventory of does and bucks and decide what ones will be taken out by myself and the people who I let hunt with me.
