It was great to have and Emerson Jarvis stop in for a mini camp prior to physical testing and the start of their school year . Couple savages!

Both girls completed a really solid summer of training through a remote program we designed for them to address weaknesses and physically prepare them for their sport of ski racing. Keep charging ladies!

🔥If you want to train with XIP remotely shoot us a DM and we’ll set up a consultation call👊

If you have limited time with athletes it’s best not to spend too much time doing “weird” s**t.

I’m all for a good prep circuit, working those fascial slings, and some needed “prehab” in an athletes program. But when you only get them seasonally it’s best to not stray too far from modalities that will actually improve the operating systems and provide enough stress for the system to respond to.

Lift something heavy and move something fast, is a contrast training method of pairing a heavy lift with a similar but lighter movement, such as a jump, a throw, a sprint, or maybe plyometric type of movement with shorter faster ground contact times. There’s a lot of neural excitation that happens, which is vital to strength and conditioning program success. There’s also a lot of neuromuscular coordination from heavy resistance training paired with the high speed coordinative movements paired with it. This is also vital to athletic success.

Quite simply, it allows you to expose connective tissues to the thing that makes them more durable (resistance training) and the thing that helps them apply force and accept force faster, (speed, power and plyometrics).

It doesn’t have to be crazy complex. Keep it simple, and apply enough heavy stress to elicit tissue adaptation, and enough high speed, explosive movements to keep them athletic. Don’t be too weird in your programming.

This summer marks 20 years of on field speed and agility camps for XIP. It also marked the first year of these sessions being offered at our new location, where we are currently building the next chapter for XIP. A "campus" that will have it all and allow us to expand our athletic development operations in the years to come.

The first on field camps began in 2006, years prior to XIP opening, with a handfull of driven local middle school athletes who just wanted to get faster. If memory serves me our shirts had a "speed kills" printed on them somewhere. Not much has changed.

Here's a few pics from a training session on the lower field of the new lot. I'm sure many of the XIP alumni are happy to see there's a good hill for our resisted sprint work. Wouldn't have it any other way💪🔥

If you're an XIP alum comment below with what year you attended your first XIP camp.
