Getting the net pens ready and putting them in the water takes a lot of time and effort. It’s a bummer we weren’t able to put our allocated King Salmon in the net pens this year but thank you to everyone that supports our net pen project and the LCBA.

The Hiatus is ready to go for 2026 and we are looking forward to another season fishing out of Ludington. We had Pete and his daughter Brooklyn with us yesterday morning for our shakedown trip. Pete and I and have been fishing the river together for over 20 years but he doesn’t get to fish the big lake much so it was nice that he was able to bring his daughter and experience a spring morning on Lake Michigan. We had a lot fun catching some nice Lake Trout and a couple of Brown Trout.

We are ready and can’t wait to put our Nova DWTS rods to work again this season. We have nothing but good things to say about our experience using these rods to catch salmon last summer. Also excited to try out our new Nova Telescoping Walleye trolling rods this spring and early summer.

Looking forward to our annual summer BBQ and meeting at Lake Street Marina on Friday. If you are interested in joining as a Captain or Associate Member this is a great time to come see what the Ludington Charter Boat Association is all about.

We had a great week of fishing. Mother Nature tried to slow us down with wind and waves from every direction but we kept at it and had a lot fun in some less than ideal conditions for most of the week.

It is hard to believe we are halfway through August. We have had some great weather and fantastic fishing. Here are some pics from the past 2 weeks.

Lots of action and some nice boxes of fish the last few days. The lake has been flat calm and the fish have been biting.

We had another cancellation for August 22nd, 23rd and 24th. These are all morning trips and we are anticipating some really good fishing through the month of August.

The Nova Deep Water Trolling Series Copper/Lead Core Rods and Wire Diver Rods have exceeded our expectations this season. We have been pulling Dreamweaver Flip-Fins/Flies on deep coppers this week and 10” Spin Doctors and Meat Rigs on the Diver Rods. Definitely a deadly combination and a great way to catch fish deep.
