The NBA scriptwriters got lazy on this one.

Back on March 1, the Knicks beat the Spurs 114-89.

Looks like just another ordinary loss... but what happened next?

The Spurs went on a 40-game streak scoring 100+ points.

Ninety-five straight days.
Forty straight games.

No team could hold them under the century mark.

Then the NBA Finals arrived.

And who ended the streak? The same team that started it.

The Knicks.

Sometimes basketball has a funny way of coming full circle.

The Knicks ended the streak in March.
And ended it again in June.

Only this time, it happened on the biggest stage possible.

Jalen Brunson?

The engine of the offense.
The closer.
The guy who seems to hit every big shot when the Knicks need one.

Or Karl-Anthony Towns?

The player who keeps proving every doubter wrong.
The matchup nightmare.
The big man who's been dominating on the biggest stage of his career.

Most championship teams have one clear Finals MVP candidate.

The Knicks have two.

And that's part of what makes them so dangerous.

Charles Barkley has never been shy about his opinions on New York fans. But heading into the NBA Finals, his tone has shifted.

On Mad Dog Sports Radio with Adam Schein, Barkley previewed the Knicks’ Finals matchup and admitted there’s something different about the city when the team is winning.

“The New York Knicks got a chance to do something so special. I’m not gonna lie… it’s a different thing being in New York. I know New Yorkers are annoying. But man, they’re right. When the Knicks are doing good, it’s a different energy in that city.”

Barkley went on to describe last year’s Eastern Conference Finals as one of the most electric environments he’s ever experienced, and believes the NBA Finals will take it to another level entirely.

“For me… it’s one of the most amazing things those three games we went to in New York. And now you’re gonna put it on steroids going to the Finals.”

He also called the matchup a dream scenario for the league:

“Getting the Knicks against Victor… this is what Adam Silver wants.”
